Why is this burning my throat so much? Need help from an expert.

So I just recently got a joyetech eVic-VTC Mini and at first it was working just fine until I went to change the Atomizer coil. First couple puffs were just fine, but then shortly after it started to burn my throat like crazy (not rough, just really hot). I thought maybe I got a bad coil (it's happened before with other setups) so I switched it out with a new one to see if that would help. Same thing. So at that point I started thinking that maybe there was something else wrong. I got frustrated and went back to my Kangertech Subox mini that I was using before and that was working like it's supposed to. The reason I mentioned that is because when I got the joyetech I just used the same battery that my Kangertech used. I've been keeping my watts/volts pretty much the same on my Joye as they are on my Kang.

After trying yet a third new coil on the Joyetech some time later and still having the same issue, I began to think maybe it was my battery I was using. The Joye is good for about 2-4 puffs before starting to burn, then I have to wait a half hour if I want to use it again(it does go away and taste like it should for those few puffs) I also noticed this one time I left it out in my car (it's colder here) I got a few extra puffs before the burning started. To me it seems like it's overheating.
I also noticed the battery draining much quicker on the Joye than the Kang, but I'm not sure if that's directly related to my issue.

I'm pretty sure I'm not so unlucky that I got 3 bad coils all in a row, and I always prime them before using them.
If it is just my battery then that's easy since all I have to do is buy a new one better suited. I tried searching around on google and couldn't find anyone in the same situation as me.
Am I right in thinking it could be my battery, or is it something completely unrelated? Any help is much appreciated.

What kind of coils are you using?
If you're using Ti, Ni or SS, you'll want to use the particular settings for that material. If you're using Kanthal, put the eVic into 'Power' mode and adjust your wattage accordingly.
The settings on one mod are not really the same as on another.
I have an eVic (that I won here) and I love it.
Also, upgrade your firmware. Version 3.0 is currently available.

It seems unlikely to me it will be the battery, especially if it works in the Knager box. I suspect @MrDripper has the right of it: you're probably set in the wrong mode for the coils you're using. It is, unfortunately, possible you got 3 bad coils in a row. Those things are made on automated machinery by the millions, and they're packaged as they come off the equipment. If the machine got out of adjustment, it might have made a large number of them wrong and there could be many boxes of coils that are all the same, and all bad. But from your description, I do think the mod is set wrong. It vapes fine, until the coil gets hot, then vapes fine again after it cools down.

I'm using Ti coils. Am I supposed to be able to use it when I'm looking at the screen that says "Temp Ti" at the top? Because nothing happens when i try to hit the fire button. How do I save these settings for when I want to use it?

Wow...that's very odd.
Try going into 'power' or 'bypass' mode and see if it fires.
If not, there's a bad connection somewhere.
It may sound ridiculous, but have you upgraded the firmware?
I just upgraded it so that it fires now, but I'm barely getting any smoke out of it. And it keeps saying 'protection". IS this something to worry about?
I also just noticed that my wats drop to below 3 every time i try to use it

Are you using temp control?

I'll share my experience anyway, it might help someone.

When I first switched to using temp control I thought it was awful. I was pressing the fire button and no matter temp I set it too it almost immediately said it had reached the temp protection limit. I was not drawing on it at the time because I was checking if it was working. I didn't realise I needed to be drawing the air over the coil otherwise the temp limit was reached almost immediately.

Do you need to change the temperature coefficient on your mod? I haven't used yours but I have to change mine via an app.

What atomizer are you using? I may have missed that part in the thread but it it may have juice flow cutoff. And the "protection" is USUALLY for the temp limiting feature, basically saying that you have a dry coil and it's trying to not burn your wick. What's the wattage and temp limit set at? And what resistance is the mod reading on the coil?

I haven't been playing around with the temp control much, but I can change it right on screen.

I'm using the eGo ONE Mega
The resistance is .40 but jumps up to .65 when i try to use it.

STOP. DO NOT USE THAT BATTERY.
It is for flashlights or similar.
It is a protected cell and would usually not even work in your mod. I am surprised it will do anything at all.
You are lucky your Joyetech mod is saving you from a real problem.
no kidding? Thats the one that came with my Kangertech so i assumed it would be alright. Thanks for the heads up.

Just relieved really. It would/could confuse the chip in your mod even if the amp limit was safe.
It is possible it was the right sort of battery for a low power mod at some point.
Glad to have spotted the 'look' of it for you.
