Why is this juice so powerfully numbing

I bought some all natural, 100% VG strawberry juice from my favorite vendor. I completely trust their product. I'm not writing to complain-- I emailed them and they immediately sent me a refund ticket.

But, this is driving me crazy! The juice has extra flavor, but no other additives. I regularly vape another 100% VG juice from the same line with no problems.

Here's the deal-- upon receiving it, I added 5 drops to a 2.5 ml tank (another compatible flavor)-- INSTANTLY numbed my lips, tongue and upper palate. Okay, I let it steep. Then I dripped it on an atomizer- oh my- so numbing I was sure I'd have to ER for allergic reaction. Took an hour or so to regain feeling. Then I tried it again.

Today, I picked up a tank and after two inhalations, I again went numb. I forgot to empty the first tank.

Like I said- I have no beef with the vendor- I just NEED to know what may be causing this. I'd like to forgo any future issues, particularly as I've bought enough DIY supplies to start my own juice biz.

Sorry for the long post- I am totally obsessing.

Thats also a sign of too high nic, not trying to scare you but if its numbing your lips, I would not vape it, it could also be a reaction to something you may be allergic to???

No, it's 12mg. Oh, I've stopped vaping it! I barely used .5ml of 50ml. Thing is, I use another juice from the same vendor that has strawberry as an ingredient. Of course, that very popular juice is not 100% VG, so the flavoring may be from another source...

I tried a couple ECF searches, but I can't find related info.

Surely this has/is happening to others....

Edit- there can't be that many "all natural/organic" straight strawberry flavoring vendors, right?

No, in fact, I've never had an allergic reaction to anything but the sun and poison ivy (desperately looking for wood).

Ill keep my smart:censored: comments to my self about desperately seeking wood;-) I have some Zombie apocalypses is I think Strawberry cream and vanilla only reaction is vaping more than usual due the the great taste.

It sounds to me more like you have a reaction to that particular flavorant, not so much like an issue with nicotine.... maybe the other flavor that you got that had a strawberry component had less, or was a different strawberry, or you became sensitized to that particular flavor, maybe it wwas triggered by the higher flavor load. But, if even a tiny amount is causing numbness, steer clear (as i think you're already doing) . If it was a matter of becoming sensitized, it could be possible for the reaction to get worse if you keep testing it.

I agree- the other juice (w/strawberry) is not a VG natural/organic flavorant so no equal comparison. I am hoping that I don't run across the offending strawberry as I tentatively step into the world of DIY. If I do, though, I'll recognize it in an instant!

Dang- I forgot to mention that the flavor is awful- strong chemical overtones. Just yucky. As I mentioned, the juice vendor has been wonderfully responsive and I am going to send the juice back tomorrow. I think (in order to ensure that I'm not returning due to taste) they are planning to replace with same. I will probably decline if that's the case. Hopefully, they will test it and if there is an issue, will correct it for future consumers.

I would STOP Using that e-Liquid and contact the Retailer ASAP.

If this was food you bought at the store, wouldn't you be a Bit Freaked Out? Why should e-Liquids be Different?

All over the place

If this is truly an all natural, organic 100% VG flavorant, just how many manufacturers are there? It's a large juice company, so they have to be buying huge quantities.

The problem with the terms "all natural/organic" are that natural only implies that it came, supposedly, all from the source it is meant to taste like, and organic is in relation to how that original, in this case, strawberry was "made." "Organic" ingredients are qualifiable, so unless vendors can show proof of that, I'd prefer those terms be used in conjunction with documentation of some sort.

Now, in the case of the eliquid itself, and even more importantly, how those natural/organic flavors were extracted--that is what may reveal the problem. If they sent you an organic strawberry berry, then it would be one thing, but the strawberry flavor was obtained in some way that I can assume was not "organic." I am venturing a guess, but I think it was a bad extraction that left traces or more of the extraction technique.

I have and I did. They immediately sent me a postage paid return label and issued a 15 ml bonus bottle as well. I have it packaged and ready to go back. Trouble is, no replacement choices were offered so I'm thinking they will send back another 50 ml bottle of same.

Great company though. Surely this is just a fluke and the replacement will be different....?
