My very first pv (ego-t) and my very first try - wow, tastes just like roadkill after 2 weeks in the sun:(

Oh jees, that is bad, very bad. I did blow out the atomizer first. They didn't didn't say which end but a lot of ... sewing machine oil? did come out. Then I filled it with French Pipe and some menthol for good measure. Three puffs and then some mouthwash and then a headache. What's with this thing??? Niow I put some other juice in a new tank but it still tastes like the same nasty @()#$Y after a few puffs. How much punishment does it take to get to some less evil thing?

Sorry to hear you are having a bad first experience. What are the liquids you are vaping? Also, are you getting vapor? the tanks do need to be snapped down hard to puncture the tank (and it is recommended that you rotate it after that to help open the hole). If you are seeing any ridge between the tank and the atty it is not "locked in" and a burning atty is one of the worst smells/tastes in the world.

Did you get two attys? Take the other and blow it out really good from the open end through the threaded end. Try a different juice if you have one. Maybe it is the French Pipe juice that is not so good. Best of luck

I blow mine out the other way, blowing from the threaded end with primer coming out of the tank end. You don't need to blow really hard, but blow consistently. For me, the first couple of blows generally don't produce any primer, but the third will get a big glob out. I wipe it all up, roll up a paper towel and wipe the insides of the atty really well, and then blow some more until there's no juice at all coming out. Then, for good measure, I'll put 2-3 drops of juice in through the battery end and blow that through until I start seeing juice-colored liquid coming out the other end. Roll up another corner of the paper towel, clean out the interior of the atty really well, drop two more drips of juice into the battery end, wipe that off with a towel, attach a battery and a tank and vape away.

Liv2ski - that was a good idea! I started the whole other atomizer with a new tank with something called only 'menthol'. I got 2 juices from house of vapor with the ego-t (menthol & french pipe). I got some other from vaperite. Maybe I just thought I wanted to vape tobacco!?!? the new atomizer set up tastes.... less evil. Not good, but like B Pak said.... sewing machine oil is not that tasty. Bradder, I did check first before I tried the first one to see that the hole in the tank was really there. And I poked it a tiny bit, too, just for extra insurance. So now I checked and yes, the tank is really down good on the next bit. By my standards, the vapor production is very, very good. I only can compare to cigarettes, though.
But the taste is vile, just vile. I WILL stick with it, I will. I really, really want this to work.

I would suggest at least a half dozen SAMPLE sizes of different flavors, whatever sounds good to you when you order. The toughest part of vaping is finding your favorite flavor juice. Lots of flavors (french pipe) sound good (I would try it) and taste worse than a real cigarette.

Toddos, okay, I did all that... as best I could. None of my liquids is very colored to see what's coming out. But thank you - it does taste much better already (as I sit here smoking a very bad cigarette - tbh). Stosh, I think you're on track with the flavors being tough to choose - and wow, did I choose poorly. I'll order some more, some imaginative sounding ones. I looked at that link with stores locally but they were mail order only, so does vaporite sound as good as the next place to get some more liquids?

Flavors are the hardest part IMO... that's what the PIF forum is for -- pass 'em on to someone else and pick up something new to try.

I worried about this in the beginning of my vaping experience because I wasn't really enamored with any flavor that I tried... Finally I said to myself, "self, were you so in love with the 'flavor' of your camel filters?"

Hmmm, not really. Maybe I just had this expectation that vaping was going to provide me with a cigarette-like experience free from all ills and with all the benefits and so much more..... No such luck for me. I have a couple of flavors that are ok, but when it really comes down to it they're all better than the weird chemically taste of cigarettes IMO (esp. once you get used to them).

Wash it in hot water...wash it on HOT WATER...WASH IT IN HOT WATER!!!

Boil some water, put it in a coffee cup, use a spoon to lower atty in said hot water, move it around real good to get all the air bubbles out, stir it around for 10-15 minutes, pull it out, blow it out gently, let dry overnight if possible, at least 2 hours if not.

No more bad taste...I PROMISE.

Right now I'd let it dry out for several years, so I think overnight sounds good. Somehow, I do think cleaning will make a huge difference. I know ppl think smokers have no tastebuds, but I wish the vendors who put that oil in it before shipping could see we have at least a couple left.

This is one of the reasons I love the Cisco atty's. NO PRIMER. Not really sure why they use this stuff since NiChrome is corrosion resistant anyway so it is not really protecting anything on the coil. It tastes like the smell of an old wet mop. I want the inventor or person that decided to use this crap flogged and whipped!

I dont think its the primer....he said he is vaping vaperite juice and that doesnt vape very well with the ego t from my experience. I bet he is getting dry burnt taste. Vaperite is good juice but seems hard to wick, i put bwb juice back in a tank and im back in business....didnt even clean the atty, didnt have to since it was dry burning :/

nevermind he is using other juices as well. now i dont know lol

I too had a few days of nasty tasting vaping to start, using a 510, blew everything out before I started, but still didn't taste great, almost like a car exhaust, really dry and smoky tasting. Not pleasant... Ordered a bunch of sample liquids from a few different places and found that I do not do well with VG. Surprised me from what I'd read, was kinda expecting to have a PG aversion, never liked the smoke machine smoke, but turns out VG doesn't work too well for me. Now, 3 or 4 days in with new flavors and a better VG/PG mix I can get why people vape instead of smoking :)

MadVapes only charge $2 a sample or so, and they ship fast, I got maybe 6 or 7 liquids from them, wild and wacky flavors to see what I liked, gotta be worth a try.
