Why isn't it showing the "Recommended Voltage" for my devices?

Hey guys, 2nd full day with my brand new eVic kit.. Loving it so far!! Most intelligent e-cig ever! Lol, but one thing I noticed is that it's not showing me the "Recommended Voltage" when I screw on my ProTank anymore, it's only telling me how many ohms my coil is (the "Atomizer Detecting" screen when you 1st screw on your device)..
I remember yesterday when I screwed on my ProTank, my eVic would tell me the "Recommended Voltage/Wattage" on the screen, and the resistance of my atomizer.

I've tried plugging in different devices to see if it would give me that "Recommended Wattage" it was showing me yesterday - 510 Boge cartos, T2 clearos, a Nova, a 510 atty; still it's only showing me how many ohms each device is when I screw them on ("Atomizer Detecting").. I know it's probably something simple I'm missing, hah. Thanks in advance!!

I also remember when it did show the "Recommended Wattage" for my device, it was a bit lower than where I usually like to vape at (like 5.8 watts or 6.2 or something weird).. And I also remember my buddy's eVic showing him the "Recommended Wattage" for his ProTank when he first screwed it on his eVic

The only time it will show a "recommended voltage/wattage" is when you are coming from sleep mode to active(on) mode or when you first turn the evic on. And that recommended volt/watt is just a default number that you can adjust from your computer through the MVR software.

I don't even rely on that.

Thanks for the quick reply! Nice avatar too, btw.. Well I just put in sleep mode and turned it back on, still didn't get that screen for "Recommended Voltage". Even tried it again, but this time unscrewed my ProTank, put it in sleep mode, screwed PT back on, than turned it on - Still only getting the "Atomizer Detecting" screen where it shows me the coils resistance (2.0ohm)

Maybe I messed something up on MVR on my computer?? I only fooled around with MVR for a few minutes

Also seems to be showing a different resistance each time I screw my ProTank on (1.9, than 2.0ohm); and with my other devices too. Does anyone elses do that? Or maybe my ProTank's coil is on the border of 1.9-2.0ohms (like 1.95 or something). It's a brand new coil, haven't even fired it once yet - waiting to see the "Rec. Wattage" first!!

I have the same issue with mine. I'm using a Vivi Nova V3 on it, currently. I've just been searching the forums to see what the recommended settings are for my Vivi Nova V3 and eVic. The eVic told me the Vivi Nova V3 was 1.4 ohms and I had it set to 3.6V. I was getting a burnt taste every so often and set it to 3.0V and it's fine, now. I did a search for "Resistance Volt Chart" on Google Images and came up with some images of charts with recommended settings, too. Good luck!

Did you do a firmware update that changed anything?

Simple test - Turn eVic off - wait 30 seconds - turn on and power up.
Should display time/date - Read Resistance - Display recommended.

Now, a few points of interest.
Sleep mode - NOT the same as standby i.e. you put it into sleep mode, eVic puts itself into standby after a period of time.
Like many PC's it shuts down certain functions at different standby lengths until it is basically off.

Resistance - All coils have some fluctuation and will read slightly different at times. Good meters can display these minor changes.
Also take into consideration point of contact when attaching. (When the eVic actually recognizes the device) As you screw the device on the point that both ground and positive contact are made trips the read process. If contact is light(barely connecting) eVic should?will read a higher resistance due to POOR contact. True even though you finish tightening down the device.
Quick attachment usually reports more accurate readings. Attaching before powering up always reports proper readings.(Fluctuation exempted)

Recommended voltage/wattage - This is NOT a device specific recommendation. It is a minimum SAFE Vaping power recommendation. This number never changes and is a reference only, displayed at power up and when coming out of full standby. It does NOT effect any function of eVic.

Thanks crxess, that really helped me understand a lot better.. I actually updated my firmware from Version 1.2 to V 1.3 after I posted this last night.. Took your advice and actually 'Powered Off' my eVic - when I turned Power back on, than it gave me the "Rec. Wattage" and my atomizer strength.. So, problem solved!!

And yeah, it recommended 5.2watts or something low.. Makes sense, thank you!!
