8 watts is my sweet spot on the eVic, with both Boge LR cartos and Protanks. A tenth or two higher gets me into the burned taste though.. This is with 50/50 juice, where it's good to allow a minute between vapes to allow the wick to rewet itself inside the coil.

I can never pull more than 6.5 with Silica without tasting burned taste, mine is 50/50 e juice too, how are you doing 8W? With cotton wick, I can go that high but I generally stay in 7W for battery life (18350 mini mode) and because the eVic control head near the removal top ring gets wicked hot...

I dunno. I got mine back when Value Vapors first put them on sale for $59.95 with code VIC (the two-screw head). Haven't rewicked the ProTanks (later o-ring version of the original design)... just using 2.5Ω heads that typically read 2.6Ω. I do think 8W is about the max for an unmodified ProTank with those heads, at least with 50/50, and maybe 7.5W or so with all VG (Boba's Bounty for example). 7 watts just doesn't do it for me. I'm using the pink flat-top Samsung batteries.

I set my temp alarm for 50ºC and it rarely goes off unless I'm sort of chain vaping... which is really too fast anyway. At that point the top ring may be quite warm, but nowhere near "wicked hot." Make sure the 510 connector on both your eVic and tank are clean, shiny, flat, and mating well so you aren't developing a high resistance hot spot there. You might try a TINY dab of Noalox on it and see what happens.

Personally I like it right around 7-8 watts......I find regardless of the mix I always fall into this range. Obviously depending on your atty HR or LR is going to change up the voltage and that would change things up but I only use HR Atty's so 2.5-2.8 ohms is where I am always at. I still have to warp my head around sub ohm vaping, LR makes sense to me but why anyone want to go at 15 watts besides the heat I do not understand.

I'm with the majority here and usually have it around the 7w mark.

A couple of weeks back when i was using my carto tank the max wattage i could get out of it was around 8.9, but this was because the resistance had steadily gone up on the carto without me taking too much notice. Anyhow, i put this down to the battery maybe getting worn out and ordered a couple of the panasonic 3400mah batts from amazon. I now realise that the higher resistance of the carto was the reason the watts maxed out at 8.9 and the battery after 12000 puffs is still fine - D'oh! At least i am sorted for evic batts for while!
