Meh, I suppose it's semantics/personal preference in the end which you prefer. I just don't like the argument that, "If you don't have a mech, you can't blow the clouds!" I've out-clouded many mech mod users in my day.

It's like the Ferrari vs. Porsche debate. People love Ferrari because of how hands-on it is with its computer regulation, it helps you into the turn, it calculates a bunch of stuff that you could never possibly think about, compared to Porsche's which are generally recognized as having less moving parts/more mechanical.

In the end though, if you take the highest-end Porsche and the highest-end Ferrari and pit them against eachother, they both hit 60 miles an hour in about 2.5 seconds. Examining the millisecond count is just dissecting beyond purpose.

Yeah, the high powered regulated boxes can chuck the clouds too. I use mechs because I like building specifically for them. The vape that I get is a direct consequence of what I made. But I can certainly see the appeal of something like a sigelei 100 or 150 too. Its just not my style... but I have nothing against anyone who does like that style.

A reason I haven't seen mentioned yet is the looming FDA regulations . If nothing changes with those soon and we get knocked back to 2007 level vape gear , those without mechs will be very sad when the electronics in their devices fail . That's not an if , that's a when , electronics will fail . I have both regulated and mechmods and I prefer the whole experience of vaping on a mech but aside from that between DIY and mechs I know I'll still be vaping if the hammer falls on us .

That's why I first bought a mechanical mod two years ago (before the recent wave of house bills and legislation) - future proofing (even though I had a Provari). Little did I know that mechanical mods would become my preferred device.

In the end its just preference.
You can get great results using either.

Please, let's not hijack this into a mech vs reg debate, and just answer the question.

I mean, OP's question was pretty much, "Why do you prefer mech mods to regulated mods?" and I think everyone provided input related to the topic.

Hey everyone, since I've started nearly a month ago I read a tone of information about vaporizers. But out of all one thing I still haven't understood is why use mech mods?

I see why people love to use dripping atomizer, since you can rebuild its coils and further customize your experience, etc. But why do they commonly attach a dripping atomizer to a mech mod? Instead, why not use a nice electronical mod where you can tweak the voltage or wattage you want?

Thanks people.
Some people who started to vape a few years ago still like they mech mods. I do not think they are really useful today for mainstream vaper.

I didn't read all the posts because I'm slightly inebriated (first weekend without the kids in about two years...I knew the in-laws were good for SOMETHING!) but has anyone mentioned that mechs are pretty sexy? Cause that's why I use them...I would take some pictures, but I have a new iPad (see above) and don't wanna risk posting "other" pictures. =)

That's because you don't know how to build for one. Trust me, I get a vape that's every bit as enjoyable on my mechs as I do my regulated mods. If you're ever in my area, you're welcome to try some out. Due to the possibility of problematic regulations, everyone should learn how to properly use a mech, and own some.

Few regulated mods can exceed accurately the power a mech delivers even to this day. For those few that can, a cherrybomber, technically a mech, will destroy. With 2 vtc4s in it you can safely get 220 watts from it.
Edit: if there are chips or wires its not a mech. Unregulated and mechanical are 2 different things, even if its a mech switch it still isnt a mech mod.

I am more than sure that there is no problems in building for mechs. But thank you anyway.
Are you sure you want to recommend a mech to a new vaper? I am sure I do not want (hope you too).

Most the replies here seem to be good reasons to own a mech, but not necessarily to use one. IMO the only reason to use a mech is if it's the only thing you have available, otherwise there are regulated mods that outperform anything a mech can offer by light years.

EDIT: I stand corrected there is an exception which is pushing wattage, a dual parallel mech mod can't be beat by a regulated mod in that regard, you can push some crazy watts and kill your batteries in 60 seconds if you really want to but most people will not find a practical use for that and would likely find the vape itself to be pretty bad.

Which regulated mod can outperform a copper cherrybomber. Im not talkin about screens and battery meters or even tc either im talkin power. Im curious to know about this mod id probably buy it.

Once again, you didn't read my post. I never recommended one to any new vapor.

I did say everyone should learn to use one. The key word is LEARN. I would never tell anyone to just buy one without having the prerequisite knowledge to use and care for it.
