I find it odd here on ECF DIY forum that many come to search a recipe and make it but, do not offer a review if it is good or not. For me being new to DIY it would be nice if we all could take the time to give an opinion. Is it good or bad or meh? Yes, I understand taste is subjective but, come on...no one takes the time. I just searched for a Blueberry "something" recipe and after reading 9 recipe's there was not one person that could take the time to offer an opinion... subjective or not. And it is peculiar because there is no lack for reviews for recipe's on the internet other than ECF. And even some of those reviews can be darn right mean and nasty. I read everyone stating "oh my gosh that sounds just delicious" or "I will have to try it" or "ordering my supplies for this right now". Yet not one have left a remark after mixing it. And I am sure anyone who is reading this is thinking to themselves "ya...I never left my opinion but, nobody knows I made it". OK, so this was more of a rant than a question. My flavors cost me good money and I am not going to use them without some kind of feedback. I do understand this is not a "Review This Recipe Thread". Just commenting I for one would like someone who has tried it give me their honest opinion. That all.

Wow... you really are new to DIY.

Just kidding. :p
Honestly... flavors are so damn cheap and experimenting can be fun. Have at it.

But if you care... add a post to a recipe thread you find interesting asking for feedback.
The participants will get an alert, and perhaps you'll get some reviews.

For the most part... retail juices get reviews, both good and bad, because those folks probably paid money for the product already. Recipe threads... well, most of us get to know the differences in various mfg's flavors so we know we'll like it, or can adjust it. And if it turns out to be something we just dislike, maybe they're too polite to come back and insult the OP's tastes.

Yeah... I'm trying to justify that excuse as well. :p

I thought this was DIY Forum. That is exactly what I intended. Not sure what happened. And yes, new last Tuesday I believe but, full time vaping (quitting analogs) for 6 months. However vaped for months here and there couple years ago. Finally kicked the habit when I found I could make my own ejuice, not only inexpensively but, with flavors I liked. Thanks for commenting.

Maybe I am not allowed to post in the other forums cause I am new. Just before I posted I thought I read correctly that I could because I had more than 5 posts. I believe maybe I understand what you said on "not wanting to hurt the recipe makers feelings". So maybe it just is not possible. I would have liked it but we don't all get what we want. I want my own talk show but, that probably won't happen either. And if I read correctly I believe someone I think suggested I maybe post a recipe but, after smoking for 30 years I don't have a good palate. Or at least one you guys would want to trust.

Wish I could summons like that...too new I guess.

See in the bottom of a post a warning Triangle Report ?
Use that when you need to report something. It goes to a private forum for staff.

... So maybe it just is not possible.

No, not at all.
I understand the rant, though I don't feel so strongly.

I was being a bit tongue in cheek, but really... if an interesting recipe thread has no reviews, go ahead and ask for some.
You might get them... and we all win.

And don't let a lack of feedback keep you from testing and experimenting on your own.
Yes... you'll still be getting your sense of taste back fully. And yes... as you play with DIY more, you'll find (usually) that less flavor is required than you might have thought (at some percentage point... more actually begins to mute the flavor. Odd).

For the most part... DIY experimenting is quite fun (like cooking, if one enjoys that). So enjoy it. :D

Good Idea? Ya, I kind of think so too. Since I got feedback, albeit from just one person, maybe I will make a post in DIY on suggesting just that. That we all try to make an honest review but, make it towards the OP's of the recipe that it should not be against their recipe. Just against what the person trying it likes for taste. Good idea leftyandsparky. Wait a minute, it was my idea.

Keep that in mind because your tastes may change over time. What you love today, may be just fair next week or next month.

I have several bottles in the cupboard that were very good when I first made them. And, since I really liked them, I made big bottles. Now..............they're just so so. Partly because my tastes have changed and partly because I've found others that I like so much more. Those big bottles that I used to like just sit there now.

Oh, but I do love mixing, not so much experimenting and least of all wasting.

That's fair.

Keep in mind though... once you've acquired a number of flavors, and presumably found well priced larger quantity PG, VG and Nic... a 10ml tester bottle may be all of twenty-five cents worth of materials.

Not such a hardship if it all goes horribly wrong. ;)

(I must be extrordinarily un-adventurous... I've never had to pour out anything... yet. :D )

Taste is extremely subjective. One person's nectar may taste like dirty dishwater to you. It's one of the reasons why I never put much faith in e-liquid reviews. Just because someone else likes it doesn't mean you will.

A few years back, Mad Murdock's Radiator Pluid was all the rage. It was hard to come by and review after review raved about it. It was probably (and quite possibly still is) one of the strongest tasting e-liquids out there. However, you'll also find a lot of posts on ECF from folks who bought into the hype, managed to get their hands on a bottle, and couldn't stand it. Yeah, it's that strong.

So, in the case of DIY, you find what you like. Sure, there are tons and tons of recipes out there. Chances are, you're going to modify those that you find to accommodate your tastes. Doesn't mean the recipe was bad. Just means your tastes are different from that of the recipe creator.
