Why or maybe what am I doing wrong?

Just curious why this happens? You come up with a really good recipe using (in my case) a Protank2 mixed at 12mg nic and 30pg/70vg at 4V. Then lower the nic to 3mg and use a sub Ohm device at .5 ohms and 20w and change nothing else but it taste terrible. This has happened to me several times and I don't understand why or if there is something I can do to make it work. And then some recipe's seem to work great in any device just to add to the confusion. Any ideals as to why this happens? Thanks!

I understand what you mean. I mixed up a Mothers Milk variant this weekend, tasted awesome in my dripper. Waited two days and put it in my Billow V2 drop. Now it tastes like chemical almost, still hints of the good flavor in there, but not what I got out of the dripper. Time will tell if it's a steeping issue or something we are missing.

I think it might just be your recipe not being up to scratch.

I have noticed this kind of thing in my own DIY and in vendor juices, the good recipes/juices will taste good in an RDA and will taste good but slightly muted in a tank.

A protank2 will mute the flavours considerably (in comparison to an RDA) and will be more muted than a decent sub-ohm tank, so the protank is far more forgiving when testing juices.
You can over-flavour a mix and it will be fine in a protank, but it will taste like chemicals/perfume/silage/manure in an RDA (or sub-ohm tank) because all the flavour notes are amplified, good and bad.

OK, thanks for the info guys!

So if I have that problem using a Kanger sub ohm device with a .5 ohm coil do you think it would help to use a 1.2 ohm coil or would that be worse?

I doubt it would be worse, but it will be pretty similar (as it is the same tank with same dimensions, airflow, etc), just less vapour probably due to less coil-wick contact area.

The 0.5ohm coil has a recommended wattage range of 15-30W, so have you tried increasing and decreasing the wattage to see if that helps?
(1.2ohm coil range 12-25W)

I just started diy myself so I may not be much help. I am texting with a Mutation x v4 drip first with .25 coil build(can change it around of course), flavor is full on with it. I use a tank for my everyday vaping at around .5 ohms(25W) usually and the taste is more muted with the tank vs the Mutation. No matter what coil build I have in the Mutation, it's stronger tasting.

That goes with store bought and the diy i've tested thus far.

It taste good at first day but after steeping for 2 days it taste like chemical. That mean your flavor % is too strong.
