The first e-cig I bought was a DSE-801. From what I'd read and assumed at the time, I figured that would be exactly what I needed and wanted. But what I found was it was a little unwieldly, and reminded me a little too much of a Nicotrol inhaler. I tried some DIY mods (USB passthrough, which hit pretty huge; an atty wired directly into a PC power supply, hits like CRAZY, my friends call it the e-....), but nothing ever really "did it" for me; I'd curb the nicotine craving, but wasn't satisfied. Not long after that, I picked up an RN4084 (specifically an njoy NPro), and its smaller size, just-right sized hit and closer resemblance to an analog finally did the trick for me. Now, when I have to use my '801 for whatever reason, I find myself feeling like a drug addict using paraphernalia (and while I'm clean now, that's something I do have quite a bit of experience with).

Assuming that those of you that prefer larger and/or less cigarette-like PVs have not had the "other experience" I have, what's the appeal of the unit you're using as opposed to something more like the RN4084?

If first used the Nipro Njoy and quit smoking analogs with this. After much reading on this forum I tried a 510. It is the same size as the Nipro but soooo much better vapor. I don't even use the Nipro anymore. I refuse to try anything that does not look like a regular cigarette probably because I am a girl.
Martha....I know alot of gals who use the Big Mods(Prodigy..ect.).I do agree with you on the 510...still the same look as an analog...with great throat hit and vapor production!!:)The Wiz!

I care less how much the device looks like a cigarette and more about how it performs. I wasted a lot of money on starter kits of various types trying to find an analog-like experience and finally found my nirvana in a mod-type device. They work better. There is less fuss.

The battery component is the only option you can replace. These new devices (I hate the term 'mod' as many are crafted from scratch) are reliable and well-built. Battery replacement costs are significantly lower than the typical screw-in e-cig battery. With different voltage choices with the same device, you can have different vaping experiences as you prefer.

Looks like quite a few girls are ordering the Chuck, since it can be customized to look "girly" (or badass) with colors and graphics.

I ordered a Chuck because it looks really nice, and it can make my 510 go 2 days or more on a single charge. What's not to love? Yeah, it's a little big in comparison to a regular 510, and quite a bit heavier, but it's also nice to know that I could toss it down my driveway, pick it up, dust it off, and keep on vaping!

There are a lot of advantages to the battery mods other than just the higher voltage, and some are not really all that big, such as the Janty Stick, or the Protege.

I'll just be glad not having to change out batteries on my 510 every hour at night.

I started with the Njoy and went straight for the JOYE 510 because it's got good consistent Vapor! Right now I'm in the business of checking out all the 'other' kinds of PV's, the bigger ones, because I'd like the battery to last longer, and I'd like to get far away from anything that looks like a cigarette.

I've got a Janty Stick and it's a lot of fun, and so is the holster it comes with. I'm looking at the Protege, the Little Chuck, and the Super T now but there's almost too much to know. Oh well, good luck and the best to you in your new hobby. :D

So, seems the general consensus is that the bigger PVs vape better, last longer, and DON'T look like an analog. And it's that last note where I feel I should mention why I made the switch:

My then-fiance moved in with me about two years ago. I was a chain smoker, and she didn't smoke at all. Sure enough, in a matter of months, if not mere weeks, she started developing a smoker's cough. I tried to quit altogether, and of course I couldn't (and really didn't want to, but I'd do anything in my power for her), so I started researching things like Chantix. She did her own research, found out about e-cigs, and to make a long story short, she no longer has a smoker's cough and I didn't have to send her away for a week while I quit.

I do keep a pack of Kool at work for when our customers piss me off (I work tech support for a tiny software company). Odd thing there is that before the switch I HATED menthol, and now they're the only analogs I can (barely) stand.
