Because ask the veterans questions are read only - If they were left open they would turn into discussions rather than a question with answers which is not the intent of the ATV forum.

The stickies at the top of Ask The Veterans explains the functions.

You post your question...
You can't see it - it goes to an area (that only ECF Veterans can see) where ECF Veterans can answer.
Once there is an answer or a few answers it is closed (locked) and moved back out to forum viewing.
