Why would I need more wattage?

Hello vapor friends. I just bought an mpv20 and the next day it's still going strong w/o recharging it. I do want to buy another device so I have a spare. I see comments about devices that have 50 watts. My question is, why does a person need that much wattage? Does the charge last a super long time, or does it give a better draw somehow?

I'm a pretty simple guy, but want a great vape. Higher power lets me run the sub ohm tanks which provide that great vape, but require power up to 40 watts, although I normally run under 35 watts. My 50 watt and 100 watt regulated mods allow me to vape much longer between charges, more vaping, less charging. I want to enjoy vaping, not work at it.

Higher wattage tends to do the following:

- More efficient nicotine delivery. You *feel the effects of the nicotine quicker and stronger.

- Warmer vapor. Many people enjoy a warmer sensation down their throat and into the lungs. Some feel it boosts their throat hit.

- Increase in vapor volume and/or thickness. Some people enjoy more and/or thicker vapor. Whether it be visually appealing or for the increased sensation within the lungs that better simulates tobacco smoke.

- Increased flavor. This can depend on the juice but some juices explode at higher wattage providing you are using a proper topper device.

I have devices that will go to 260 watts, no I probably will never try it that high but I also won't take my car out and see if the advertised top speed is real.

As for needing the higher wattage, I regularly use a Kanger Subtank and an Aspire Atlantis which both work best for me in the 20 to 30 watt range. When I'm sitting somewhere like I am today I use an Origen RDA which I run in the 50 to 70 watt range.

thicker gauge coils and more airflow offered on RDA atties allow one to vape at extremely high power and produce thick, dense plumes of vapor that are smooth and cool if they wish. with the availability of higher watt gear, one might find they prefer higher watt vaping... or not. it's all preference. but without the gear that works at those levels, it's not possible.

My question is, why does a person need that much wattage?

I own a couple of 30 and 50 watt mods that have never gone above 10 watts. So I would not have a good reason for you.

Does the charge last a super long time, or

The more watts provided by the mod the more current required. Batteries have a CDR and a mah rating, so their is a finite amount of current they can provide. The best parallel I can offer is, does your car get better mpg at 40 mph that it does at 140 mph?

does it give a better draw somehow?

The draw is determined by the topper, not the mod.

High wattage comes in handy for dry burning your coils. Crank up the wattage to 20, pulse the MVP 20W, and the gunk burns off the coils faster and with fewer pulses than lower wattage PVs.

so should I allow my tanks to run empty and vape them a few times on empty? I think that's what you're saying, I'm very new to this and not technology-inclined.

Dry burning is a technique for cleaning the coils. You take apart the tank or the dripper, exposing the coils. Take out the wick, as it'll burn if it's cotton. Then you turn the thing on and off a few times until the coils glow red. That cleans the gunk off the coils. I use rebuildable drippers, and make my own coils. I need to dry burn every third day or so. The coils last a long time if you do that.

Youtube has a few videos on dry burning.

The new tanks that are coming out like the Atlantis, subtank, delta 2 ect all require much more than 10 watts to run. Also drippers that people build their own coils for have massive airflow and often require a lot more power. Your average clearo like a Nautilus, protank ect will never need that kind of power.

Not to mention you drastically lower your nic level to which enhances flavor as well. Especially when using juice companies whose nic gives off a peppery taste. I have some 24mg juice from Vista Vapors that's hard for me to vape because of this. The juice from my main vendor (ITC) is also cheaper with lower nic.

i vape @ 0.2 ohm & 50mg and my diy is less effected by my nic than some of the other bases @ 6gm.

so an extreme exception on both accounts.

I stand corrected then although it's very rare. I vape 24mg through a Nautilus but only 6mg on my Atlantis. Then today I built my first RDA (Mutation X, 0.2 ohm) and after two long, back to back lung hits, I was almost on the floor, dizzy and choking. My RDA strength might be going down to 3mg when wanting to cloud chase.
