Why would my e-juice start to taste burned after a day's use?

Sorry for the n00bish question, but hopefully someone will be able to help.

OK, here are the basics;

I have a VV Halo Triton, and I am using the Triton tanks with the stock coils. I keep my VV dialed all the way down (3.3V) for the juice I am having issues with, because it tastes better with a cooler coil. The juice is Halo's Voodoo in 24mg, lot expires 10-22-2014.

I don't take big hits, but I hit it a lot. Early in the day the juice tastes normal, and the color is the same as the initial juice. But near the end of my work day I see the juice has changed color, it is significantly darker, and it tastes almost burned. I thought it was my imagination, but I tried it for a couple days and it is not my imagination. I also noticed that I see some vapor in the tank as well and I don't recall seeing it early in the day. The wicks do not appear burned. When I topped it off in the morning (I am vaping roughly 2ml of 2.4mls in the tank, so I have roughly .5ml remaining) and it tastes fine. You can actually see the darker juice blend with the new juice.

I have several Triton tanks, and they are all filled with different flavors and I don't have this issue with anything else. I have also used my G6 (Halo cigalike) with a mini tank and the Voodoo and I don't experience this issue. Can anyone shed some light on what may be occurring?

I have roughly 2-4 tanks of Voodoo loaded at any given day. Towards the end of the tank, like 1/4 left, I too can get an occasional burnt taste. I also have Halos VV and use their tanks. I find I get this if I chain vape or don't let the wicks cool enough in between vapes. You might want to try a diff ohms just to test out too. I usually vape it around 4.3 without getting burnt taste unless, again, it's down to like a 1/4 tank and has been loaded for about a week.

I also recommend bringing extra tanks of other juices with you to work and rotate out. Thats another reason why i have so many Voodoos loaded so one tank/coil isnt taking all the hits. I also top off my Voodoo tanks when they're about 1/2 gone for "fresh" juice, then clean tank and coils at least once a week. If you see burnt spots on the top wick, its toast.

I wouldn't say Voodoo is a coil gunker, but it is a thicker juice and a lot of juices change color, even steeping I've had juices go from clear to dark without even vaping, so color change is normal. Voodoo gets a deep brownish red when its aged in a tank. Not sure if this helps at all.

Thanks everyone for the info.

I wasn't certain if maybe I needed to change my habits or if it was just the nature of some juices. I am completely new to vaping (only a couple weeks into it, and I spent a few days with Blu so obviously I never had any semblance of real vaping until I received my first Halo product. While I love my Halo gear (it seems very nicely made within, and beyond it's price point compared to a lot of the gear I have had my hands on) I am hoping to get into something a bit nicer with more option availability without adapting, because I do enjoy vaping and I cannot express how happy I am being smoke free for over 2 weeks.

Impulso, that is an interesting observation. I am snagging up an eVic likely next week so I will be broadening my experience with other tanks. I have adapted my Triton for a drip tip and an essential oils tank, and while it is functional, it looks pieced together. I love the Voodoo juice, and in fact after trying it I decided to step outside the tobacco flavors for the first time. I would love to be able to get more than one tank full before needing to clean it. I have 6 Triton tanks ATM and all are full of various juices, and I need to grab some new coils, which leaves me without the Voodoo more than I like.

Dave, interested in your observations with your use in the Triton tanks. However it does seem as if I am not the only person with this issue, and I assume you may see it as well. But please, keep me informed.

Sigmus, my tanks I am using for it are just a few days old. I was wondering about top coils compared to bottom coils. I had assumed laying it on it's side might be beneficial, but you know what they say about assumptions... So when I do snag up my eVic I will focus on some bottom coils. The way I vape lead me to believe they will help, as I tend to hold my Triton more vertical than horizontal. But I tend to hold my G6 horizontal as it feels more like a cigarette to me.

When I used the Vivi Nova tanks, my juice would turn dark (and thick) fairly fast. Now I'm using the Kanger Protank II, and that doesn't happen anymore.

I think the difference is that the viviNova had long wicks that hung down and the juice had to sort of crawl all the way up the wick and would be heated by the atomizer at the top. That means that the heavier/thicker particles would sink and the lighter/thinner stuff would get drawn up and vaporized. Also, a lot of times I needed to hold the thing upside down when I vaped to keep it from giving me dry hits. That was a pain.

Now, with the Protank, the wicks and coils are all at the bottom. Gravity isn't working against me, and the heavier stuff isn't being seperated from the rest.

This is one of the big reasons I prefer the Protank to the ViVi Nova.

I don't know anything about the Halo or Triton, so I don't know if this helps with your problem or not.

I did notice that someone told you that it was because you were using VV. I'm almost certain that's not the problem, especially since you say you keep the voltage set low. Myself, I keep the voltage as high as I can get away with. At some point, the juice will start tasting burnt, or I'll start getting dry hits, and then I back off, but I always want to be just below that point.

Thanks. I think when I snag up the new rig, possibly this weekend, I am going to grab some Protanks. They seem to get good reviews, and for the $ it makes sense. Just the orientation of my bigger vape when I hit it (I still tend to use the e-cig style G6 in public) leads me to believe the bottom coil would make more sense.
