Ahhh, thought I'd learned so much about batteries & chargers since vaping. But now completely confuddled re this :-

Place the charger in a suitable power outlet WITHOUT the battery inserted. The light on the charger should light GREEN indicating it is ready for a battery to be placed in it. Carefully insert a battery into the charger.

Apparently, that's the instructions that come with the SD MK11. Would be so grateful if anyone could explain the rhyme or reason behind it

I *think* the charger may need to initialize itself prior to the battery being inserted. It may not do this with a battery in place and won't charge.

Lol, feeling such an idiot because when a member of my forum posted saying her OH had told her she was getting things wrong & had to plug in & switch on the charger before inserting the battery, I just felt it didn't sound like a very safe procedure
