I am on my 3rd wick and coil and everything has a metallic soup can taste. I have vaped each set about 10 mil of juice... its a soup can taste with high th and muted flavor. Its not a hot spot yuck taste. The flavor is there but its overpowered with a metal tatse. I am using a natural and rsst, 400 mesh 28g kanthal with 3-4 wraps. Using pulse to get even glow wiyh no hot spots that i can see. The coil is just loose enough to allow the wick to slide with pressure. This is my first rba and so far my boge cartos blow this away.. what am i doing wrong? It does glow from top/bottom to the middle not middle out

it usually takes a whole tank of juice but the metal taste is most likely to loose of a coil you want real good surface to surface (wire to wick) its more trouble sometimes for hot spots but worth it i find it to taste better and the metal taste is a wick getting to hot good surface to surface helps keep the coil cool from the juice dont give up when it works its awesome

tight wrap coils never loose on ss
you can spread from the center of the ss with a wood toothpick carefully
it will oxidize itself after a couple of firings if all things are done
what I just said
when the coil is loose it spits
it can be the bottom/top coil leg is to far from post
or wick is too loose
so bottom the bottom legs on base closer to the wick
move top legs closer to top post

I think what flow prof said was right. Your coils are either too hot (too high a wattage) or your mesh isn't wicking fast enough.

If you see that ur coils still glow red while the juices burns that's where it's coming from. I used to have this problem a lot when I first went into rbas.

Also try reoxidizing ur wick and flaming ur coils/wire.

Is it possible that kanthal just taste like metal to me? What is the nichrome equivalent to 28g kanthal

I doubt it. 29 gage nichrome, which may be difficult to find.

What is your resistance and voltage? Burnt juice sometimes has a metallic or gasoline type taste to me. Are you sure your airflow over the coil is good?

Ok made a new wick and coil. This time i oxidized it with a torch. Torched the wire also. Wrappedbthe wick tight out of the rba. .9ohms cant see any hot spots. It still tastes like i have a penny in my mouth. Not as bad as it did before, but it is still there
