Cool, just I went ahead and used some 50/50

What about, can you over-oxidize? I want to be sure it's good enough, not too much or too little.

I did 4 burns no juice, then 3 burns with juice.

Yup, let us know how it went for you. What kind of genesis are you using?

Using a did clone.

Made three coils. All of em looked pretty good to me. They all popped. Gettin late, will try again tomorrow.

Possible oxidation failure?
What gauge of Kanthal are you using?
When you first fire up your coil, make sure to start off at a low voltage.

Hard to say if I failed oxidizing. I just followed what I saw in videos.
I used both 36 gauge and 32 gauge.
On my last coil, the voltage was too high because I messed up and put a different tank on there because I needed a quick vape, then forgot to decrease voltage. But the other 2 were started off low. When I get enough time today, I'll try again. Then again... Then again... And agin.

Many questions: Were the coils snug on the wick? How many wraps? Were they evenly spaced? Did you have any hotspots? Did they pop at the top/bottom leg or in the middle of the coil?

p.s. I'd start with the 32g & skip on the 36g until you get more attuned to the process. IMO anyway.

They seemed snug, yes. Maybe I should make them tighter. With the 36 I used a 3/4 wrap, with the 32 I used a 5/6. Evenly spaced, I'll say yes, but next time I'll pay more attention to that. They popped on the first fire attempt, so I'm not sure if there were hotspots. It popped on the top coil leading to the screw all 3 times.

I only have a small amount of 32, which I purchased from DV, but it says A 32 Kanthal, not A1. I was trying to get it right with 36 A1 before using 32, but I gotta do what I gotta do I guess.

I'd totally forget using the 36awg wire it is to high of resistance, the 32 will work, but you will do much better with 30awg and 28Awg Kanthal it's an amazing vape especially the 28, and you can do 7-9 wraps with the 28 I have 9 on a couple of me Genesis units now, min 5-6 wraps with 28 but 8-9 is very good flavor at about 1.5 - 1.6ohms. If you want to get it right and quick find a drill bit that fits right into your wick hole on whatever Genesis unit your using. Put the drill bit in smooth side up in the wick hole, make your bottom connection, then wrap your wire around the smooth end of the bit, make top connection, remove bit and heat up your wire a few times. Then twist a wick and oxidize it,,, the gently twist it right through your coils down into the tank,,,, you should always be able to twist your wick a little bit, and then hit the power button and get your wire glowing orange and adjust your wires till all are glowing nice and orange, and don't fill your tank till you have this, once there all glowing now fill your tank. This you should be able to get working 1st try no problems, hope it helps

Does anyone know how to tell if your coil and/or wick needs to be replaced?
I've been using my current set-up for close to 2 months now with the normal cleaning and dry burns when needed but I'm starting to get a strong metallic taste. When dry burning with the wick removed it looks perfect and I still get an even coil glow when I re-install the wick. The wick looks fine also.

Is it time to replace the coil or wick?

BTW, I'm using #500 mesh with 30 ga Kanthal A1 coil wire.

Thanks for any advise.

2 months, I would at least replace the coil. If it's starting to taste like metal and it wasn't before, I imagine your mesh wick is gunked up so bad it's not wicking enough juice and it's over heating. Just my 2 cent.

Are you sure the coil isn't burning into the mesh? I find that over time w/ multiple dry burns, it will after about that long and the wick needs replaced.

Well... I replaced the coil last night and it's a little better but still has a slight metallic taste. The wick looked good and I even un-rolled it a little. It didn't have and gunk or burn damage as it wasn't broken and I could see through it when held up to a light. It's always been wicking really well so I know it isn't clogged up. I'll make a new wick tonight and see how that goes.

Thanks for the feedback.

Heya Turbo! Long time no see buddy! Good to see ya still around.
