Hey guys. how often do you change your wicks? mine seem to go really fast. i have some no name dripper that does well enough i guess. only thing im dealing with is trying to get the right ammount of wick or trying to make sure that i drip enough or if i leave juice in the wick overnight it gets dark and doesnt burn well. I guess i need to get back to basics on wicking? i dunno. sometimes the wick gets like black! i dont know if it is from the kind of juice i use...Boba's Bounty and a local B&M juice called Tobaccy that is yellow in color. any advice would be awesome!

A lot will depend on the liquid and flavor that you are using. Darker more rich flavors like coffee and tobacco will darken your wicks and cause 'gunking' on your coil. Sweet flavors as well can caramelize and cause build-up... I use sweet liquids almost exclusively and while my wicks will darken within a day or two they still perform well for a week or more.

Have you tried leaving the wick's tails a little longer? That may improve performance a bit by allowing the wick to hold more juice as well as dripping less frequently. Also, is there a reason your coil is so high on the deck? Just curious. Mine are always much lower. You typically want your coil to be as close to the air hole as possibly, either right beside it or slightly above it. from your pics it seems rather high (if it works then hey, it works).

For wicks I would suggest you try CelluCotton/rayon from Sally's Beauty Supply (or any other vendor). This stuff wicks faster and better then cotton, and seems a bit more durable so long as you never hit it while it is dry. I loved cotton... until I tried C.C. It's def worth taking a look at.

yeah im just using 100% cotton balls from cvs. that is actually an older photo. The coil is much lower now. The way it is set up there is really no where for the wick to go except in a little lop under the coil.
