Happiness is a fresh wick
(Puff puff, vape vape)
Hapiness is a fresh wick mama
(Puff puff, vape vape)
When I hold you to my lips
(Oh yeah)
And I feel my finger on your button
(Ooo, oh yeah)
I know nobody can do me no harm
(Ooo, oh yeah)

Thanks for getting that stuck in my head (seriously)! One of my favorite albums. Heh...album.

Speaking of fresh wicks. I had a bunny ball wick all ready to wire and I got side tracked and forgot about it. After a couple days I finally got back to it. Wired it up and popped it in my phoenie and yuck. What a god awful taste. It was the first time that happened to me since I started cotton. I started panicking, Oh no, Oh no's Please don't do this to me.
So I tried another one fresh out of the package and Ahhhhhhh, Thats more like it. Best I can figure is the cotton was just laying there absorbing whatever fragrances happen to be floating around the sun room. If that is the case then we should keep the wick in air tight case.:2c:

If it doesn't say "Unbleached cotton" or "Raw Cotton" and is bright white just assume it is belched.

The majority of cotton is bleached during processing before it is even made in to any type of textile

I guess I'm going on almost 2 weeks with my first bamboo thread wick, and it's still performing quite well. I rinsed it for the first time yesterday for a flavor change, and it still looked pretty good. A bit of dark buildup on the coil at this point, with me averaging about 2-3ml a day through it.

I think I'll be using this stuff and cotton balls, but I'll give bamboo the edge right now. I like the small strands, as I'll be able to experiment easily (and repeatably) with wick diameter. Five strands of size 10 seems comparable to factory size, to me. I'll try more, next time, but this stuff works well at 8 watts with 5 strands. I'm guessing I'll probably like 7-9 a bit better.

Cool breeze. Are you finding the same I am with the box cotton wick?
I love it. I do the double wick at the top of my Penelope. Only thing I'm curious about is the darkening oh the liquid toward the end enen though I'm using very clear juice. Wick is holding up well.

Chris - I'm on standby at the moment. ...current wick is #2/0 square cotton candle wick. ...holding up okay...but flagging a little after many mls of dark stuff. I have #1/0 square cotton wick coming and perhaps some bamboo wick. I inadvertantly destroyed my previous supplies.

You mean the juice in your Penelope is darkening?

I've had that happen with every type of wick and it's especially noticeable in my clear tank Odysseus and through the clear tank on the Katana. Silica, stainless mesh and cotton have all made my juice darker.

I'm pretty sure it's standard operation. Likely some of the darker stuff on the coils leeches a bit into the remaining juice and changes the color. Happens on Genesis coils like on the Katana as well.

So, I realized that I made a stupid error that's worth pointing out here. Not too long after I posted this, I realized that I had been developing a sore throat, and starting to wheeze and cough a bit. Looking back at what I did, I'm fairly certain that I've been inhaling small amounts of chlorine gas, or some other nasty thing from my tap water, all day.

I routinely use tap water to rinse my bottles and atties, but I always air dry them completely (and follow with a light dry burn for atties.) Not being able to dry burn the vivi head, I rinsed it with the body, and wicked it mostly dry with a paper towel. I then assembled and refilled, and let it sit over night. I've used the juice in another device with no problems, and I have atties that I've rinsed literally hundreds of times in tap water, but I always let them dry overnight, and they give me no problems. That points me to a volatile irritant, not any kind of mineral residue, and my water is heavily chlorinated. Ugh. Some may get away with that, but not me. I'm sensitive to many things, and chlorine is one of them.

So, to summarize, I think I'll just vape unflavored on the wick until it's free of the old flavor, use a newly rebuilt head, rinse with distilled water or PGA, or just let them mix a bit when I want to change flavor next time.

I'm now vaping the same batch of DIY Peaches and Cream, on a 2.2 ohm head, with 7 strands of bamboo thread clipped 2mm from the sides of the head, at 4.2v on a Twist. My throat is feeling better, and I'm once again enjoying the very slight woody taste that the new wick is imparting. The 7 strands seem just about ideal for me.

Damn this cotton, I haven't made a box mod or a cheapline in a month, all I do is play with cotton, reminds me of when I discovered sex, couldn't get enough. Got to make an appointment with the DR.

LMAO

See you at Gummy's clinic

If that doesn't pan out I'll have the magic initials in April and I'll take care of you good sir ;)

EDIT:

OT...BJ what method are you using to DIY extract your tobacco juice these days? I want to revisit that can of worms. Never got it to me liking, but my gear is working too well these days, I need something to be agitated about lol ;)

One fine Dominican cigar chopped in a small jar covered with vodka or tequila. Steep for a week and strain. I use a large piece of 400 SS to strain.

That's awesome. I've never even thought of doing something like that.

I still have a humidor full of cigars that I was eventually going to just give away or something.

ETOH extraction huh? Going to have to try that, only done VG and VG/water myself

Love the use of the mesh

How do you use the filtered cig booze percentage wise?
