OMG bro I hate the LIE, northern state expressway ...! LOL

Believe it or not I saw a deer on the side of the Northern this morning between exits 36 and 37 - totally freaked me out. Luckily nobody was in the right lane when I swerved or it would not have been good.

I had a bad incident with a deer on an upstate drive once so I reacted frantically... This thing was a full blown buck with big antlers and all. I'll be sticking to the LIE for now...

Did you boil the the thread first? I boil for 20 minutes (both cotton and bamboo) before using.

I find that the bamboo ends up having a very slight woodier taste as opposed to the cotton which is just very clean and tasteless.

That slight woodiness is very good btw with certain flavors and can add a bit of TH.

Yep boiled it twice for 20 min. The first one I thought it was from my fingers but second setup had the same taste and different girlfriend. (Quig will understand this).:toast:

Are you boiling with distilled water or tap?

Point of reference being that I use distilled water for the boil.

vape On!

Distilled water may be overkill if only from a cost perspective, but if you live in an area with hard water (high mineral levels) you may want to boil it in a cheap bottled water, good enough I'd think?

Edit:, I just want to add, I picked up another couple rolls of Aunt Lydia's...if any of you guys have a hard time getting it or you're like BJ and live in some god forsaken 3rd world country with nothing but pretty naked brown girls and Pina Colada's toss me a PM and I'll mail you off 50' or so

I believe it! LOL. I love it when that happens. Bad incident huh? When the fiance and I were out in Cali the house we were staying in was regularly foraged by Deer. The home owner told us to chase them off if we saw them, as they eat their garden to pieces. One night we saw a cute dear prance up to the house and just let him have his way with all the flowers, it was pretty cute LOL

I hot rodded all my auto bats right into the junk drawer. Too much juice right down the old E-2 air shaft. I do miss em though everytime I have to use one of my bams.LOL

@BJ, I dont know whats up with your bamboo. Like others I get a woodsie taste from it boiled or not. Must be some cross contamination somewhere. Hope it's not on your lips.:laugh:

One more discovery I wanted to share today

Remember I thought I was rubbing fabric, etc all over SS while manipulating my geny wicks and getting a funky taste?

Well, on the contrary, its the taste of burning flesh lol. This is what happens when you touch a really hot wick/coil and ignore the pain. I realized it when I touched a dry assembly while hot, burnt myself, hit the trigger, and saw bubbles. Yeah that's right, BUBBLES lol

I know most of you probably know the answer for my question here-
Every rebuild for my mini vv nova turns out at 2.5 to 2.7ohm (4 out of 6 are 2.7 )
I use the Kanthal and do 5 wraps. Problem is, I want to make 2.0 -2.4 ohm
All rebuilds have worked good (so far) good vapor/flavor etc and I use them on my old ego's and newer ego twists.
But what am I doing wrong here ? There is a way to adjust the ohm-but how?
thank you for your help.

The gauge of Kanthal and the length of your wire or number of wraps will determine your ohms.

Oh man!, I've so done that...had a wick stick to my fingers once...just melted it's way into my thumbs flesh...after a good run of $@&^!!&&%^'s I was sidetracked by the pain, wrapped my coil and fired away...just about tossed...

I am using 32 gauge Kanthal-
should I use less or more wraps? so many threads and posts, and I can not find the formula and I know there is one here somewhere.
Try 4 wraps of 32 gauge, or 5 wraps of 30 gauge.

Looks like you're pretty close to where you want to be...try one less wrap but increase the pitch (slant) of the wrap...

Thanks to both of you who answered. You all keep trying so many things-but I need to learn everything about ONE thing,
and then I jump into the next advancement. This is really fun, actually ( the learning )

The total length of your Kanthal can be represented in ohms...2.4 ohms of 32 Kanthal is about 39mm +/-...that may be enough Kanthal to wrap around a pencil once, or around a needle 15 times...so yes, the thickness of your wick is a big factor...don't take on too much to chew on, get happy with the 32 awg, try different numbers of wraps, spacing and like I said, try changing the pitch of your wraps and play with different wick thicknesses (and try wrapping your wicks along with 1 or 2 needles, which will also help with wick swell)...after a while, you'll just start to "get it", till then, it's all trial and error :)
