Ok Ok you convinced me.. I have to get or make a bottom feeder. I have 8 A7s with my oval wick. Unbelievable that in over 4 years I have yet to "Squonk". Squonking is my new goal and becoming a member of the honorable squonkers society.:toast:

Oddly enough one of my first purchased mods was a Reo mini (after the typical eGo start), good concept...but at that time it was just atties and carts and the usual flooding issues so I just dismissed it as a passing curiosity...but since the boom of relatively cheap bf rba's and organics (and mesh/organic hybrids) kicking the crap outta' my high end gear...it's all I own now.

though I have to say building a VV mod with a meter (and a plug and play dna chip doesn't count:p)...and leave room for a 6ml bottle in a small form factor is a bit more difficult...go for it BJ, up the bar, lol

Cy, is yours still running?

@ Quigsy, Don't try the hemp. Repeat, do not try the hemp. Cause once you get used to it there is no going back to cotton or bamboo. Iv'e been vaping at least a month on one over 400 mil and there's no sign of it falling off. Actually it seems to be improving with age if thats even possible. Don't say I didn't warn ya. Squonk Squonk :>)

:)...I've been warned...I was actually wandering the back pages here looking for a link the other night for what hemp you all are using...something about only getting the 12 strand stuff...I'll find it and want to...I'm still amazed of the lifespan of the bamboo, can't imagine something that lasts longer...

Did you mod your A7 for air holes BJ?

If anyone is thinking of drilling side air on the A7 you want to get 2 things...I have a tube flaring tool to stop it from going out of round with the drilling pressure (the caps are serious thin) but a piece of dowelling that just fits in works just as well and 2nd, pay the $5 and get yourself a Cobalt bit...anything else is a waste of time (and a lot of cheap drill bits)

Would the draw be too tight without the side holes?

Holy crap, Chet, I just saw you're local...if you want to go side air on your A7 and don't have the tools to do it just let me know...I don't get downtown too often but PM me and we can hook up if you want...

Quigs,

There's a whole thread on Hemp that Beege started...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/378875-just-hemp-16.html#post8576644 ...this is T1!!!
These Quotes are recent from there (the >> links work). The original Lydia's seems to be, not the same... not as good.
BJ can say if it's better now...

Which hemp are you using?

I have tried hemp from Michaels and Hobby Lobby and both had a very earthy taste. I also recently got some 2mm from lovepedal and the place in canada that I haven't had a chance to try. That said I can't really say as to their earthy taste, but I can say that the all four hemp materials I have are different in their look, feel, etc.

The 2mm stuff I got from lovepedal was actually the 12 strand stuff but it is really rigged and the strands are really stuck together.

The stuff from canada seems to be in a class by itself. It is very soft, almost feels like cotton. The stands are loosely wrapped and the overall thread is softer and more pliable then the other hemp that has been boiled.

The orders I originally got from lovepedal were like that, very soft. It seems that when they ran out, their new supply was the stiff, not as good.

Here is the link (See Below by xpen!!!)

rawganique.com sells 2mm/12 strand hemp, here, look for product TW12B200 (5th picture).

I'm waiting for my order from them to arrive for evaluating it, though, so not sure yet it's any good for our purposes.

It apparently ships from Canada, but S&H is high. I hope this helps. :)

...and you'll meet others from Canada, and Washington in that thread.

Sorry I missed this, VG just hipped me to the post

Yes the Quigs Aluminum VV is ripping. Here he is with my new Igo-S (this thing totally stands up to the ERA btw, though its a top feeder)

Cy, that's a serious nice looking mod...I dig the tf's, there's something about them that's so old school...dripping for lazy asses:p

I still haven't fixed my VV tf (it needs a master on/off, it tends to auto fire when the batts are low???) and I think I just got my inspiration...I have one more A7 on deck and looking for a home.

Chiming back in after using cotton for a few weeks. I love it. I'm just taking cotton off a cotton ball (organic, no bleach or chemicals, etc.) and rolling/twisting it into a wick shape. I haven't touched SS wicks since trying cotton. The flavor is amazing. Wicking is amazing. I fiddle much less than I did with SS. I replace the cotton wick about every two days, takes about three minutes. Otherwise, no fiddling whatsoever. I'm using the original coils I wrapped weeks ago, just replacing the wick and burning the coil between replacement wicks. This method works in both drippers and tanks, though the flavor is a little better in the drippers. Easiest setup I've tried yet.

hmm I have tried cotton on alot of drippers, but which tanks are you using jamesd1628. Still looking for a good rebuildable tank that is. I do like the SS mesh, but its just not for on the go. And I do like the cotton I am using in the drippers, and my vivi's work fine, but my flavor tends to go bad very fast in a vivi anyway, so looking for something other

This thread is why i signed up to this forum.
I haven't finished reading this thread yet, i'm only up to page 79, but this thread confirmed my slight uncomfortableness about using a silica wick, and 77 pages in i took the plunge on the CE5 rebuildable i have that would not give a good amount of vapour without burning. It even burned at 5 watts. Fortunately, we had some medical cotton swab which i appropriated for the purpose. I guessed with my wick density, i wrapped my first ever successful coil on it (my previous attempts were with SS wicks and FAILed), albeit at 3.4-3.5 ohms as i only have 34ga kanthal till my order of ribbon kanthal arrives (can't wait to try that and wrap a couple of 1.8-2.2 ohm coils), put it back together, bish bosh bash, screwed it into the vamo and filled with vanilla custard.

wow. WOW. this thing wicks like a champ. No, THE champ. even when the tank is nearly empty, it wicks. I've had it as high as 12w on the vamo and no bad tastes although i don't like the vanilla custard that high, 9-10w is perfect though. The flavours were quite muted at first but 12 hours and 3ml in and they've come back some. It's a juice hog compared to silica, and it's so good i've been using it more :D but it's brilliant.

I was finding the silica was really hard to hit first thing in the morning. I was waking up with a really tight and scratchy feeling throat. I only did this mod yesterday afternoon but this morning i foun it much easier to hit

can't wait to try cheesecloth and bamboo. Are people using hemp now? I just ordered a couple of dripping RAs now i've got these wicks to fit and cannot wait. I really really want an 8ml vivi nova to try this on but having issues getting one in the UK.

I thank you all. Nice one.

edit: i'm getting loads of dark juice recondensing on top of the silicon cup of the atty head, way more than i did with silica but i guess that makes sense as i'm getting way more vapour out of it

nice. cheers. Must give that a try, i can't afford to keep this cotton (like baton but a bit denser) wick's juice habit going for long lol it's a superhawg.. not leaking just getting through the juice like a v12 jaguar compared to the silica wick's Mini 850 lol

edit: i was really happy with this swab wick... but the flavour just changed.. my wick lasted a day and a half.. lol

going to have to get some other natural wicks. I just recoiled and rewicked that CE5 and, er, yeah.. The worst taste i've ever had out of my ecig LOL even worse than the mirage cigarettes oasis juice chocolate that made me rewick it (tastes like 5 day ... smells). Must have been beginners luck on the first one i did.. got the same bad taste on two wicks, one much thinner than the first so i'm hoping it's just the taste of kanthal, it's even completely overwhelming the taste of Grant's Vanilla Custard (the strongest flavour i have had to date)

it's a weird taste, kinda metallic but not like steel metallic.. doesn't taste like burning.. never had this on my first wick, that just tasted a bit ruggy. The juice flavour is coming through a bit more if i really turn the power down but YUCK

This wire has to go man a 3-2 is coming out at 2.9-3 ohms
