...but the thing that prompted me to change it was that it started getting gurgly. I think that the gunk build up caused the wick to not hold the liquid and it just dripped off into the head.

That's exactly what happens to the Ody when I push a wick waaay past it's prime...seems the act of drawing on it still makes it wick but then hits the hard plug of wick under the coil and just drips into the air hole...

To feed my obsessive compulsiveness I've since ripped perfectly functioning wicks and coils out of my Lines and rebuilt them using my "twist as tight as I can then check to see if it's approx. 2/3 the size of the wick hole insert then fold over to double up the wick end the coil wraps around" method...so far, 3 for 3...boo wah!...for vert. wick genny's on roll/balls, I think this "may" be the repeatable sweet spot set up...thank god, I thought I was losing my mind :D

When rewicking the good old CE2 syringe modded cartos has anyone tried using
short wicks like the Nova V2's? Seems the short wicks in the Nova allows the
liquid to get to the coil easier, less distance to travel.

EDT - for the screw to wrap the coil, 6-32, 8-32 or 10-32 or depends on what it's going into??

I've done the 3 mL syringe mod on all of my clearos. I've also been making long cotton wicks for the clearo I've been using and they've been wicking perfectly. No dry hits at all, have been vaping the juice level lower than I ever did with the silica wicks; and still no dry hits.

I found 6-32 too large for #4 yarn, right now I am using a 4-40 tpi screw seams about right, makes a coil a bit larger in diameter and further spaced than a stock ce3 coil.

Alright, so cheesecloth in the Clockworks RDA is absolutely fantastic. Its much better than in the Ato-Miser, both as a whole, and with cotton. Due to the ability to position the air hole directly adjacent to the coil, the flavor and vapor production is better than any other rebuildable I've used.

I'll take a picture of it later after my phone gets charged.

Hey peeps, expecting my first Vivi Nova tomorrow and I plan to re-wick one of the heads with cotton. I don't have any rope, but I do have a giant roll of batton and some gauze. I'm planning to try the stock 2.4 head out first to see how I like it, then maybe re-working the 2.8 with the cotton. Any advice, tips, tricks, or vids to help a brother out?

I am liking the new Vivi Nova's right out of the box. There is break in period. seems every atty or cart has one, but then they vape like mad. Vision Vivi Nova, Part 2 - Changing Wick (COTTON) & Final Impressions - YouTube
The new 2.5 have nr wire for the legs and you are going to want this when you build your own. 1 fellow solves the problem by bending the legs to double them and twisting them. This lowers the resistance on the leg allowing the heat to build onlt on the coil. I haven't tried cotton balls or gauze but I will.
I use the stock coil before building a new one. You might pull it and replace the silica wick with twisted gauze or cotton right off the bat.
One last thought. When you twist on some nr wire, you make it stiffer and it just wants to go straight down, possible shorting out on the sidewalls .You can always run the wire to the same side of the connector instead of opposite
sides as seen on the video. 1 can touch the side, it's negative anyway... I've seen copper used for the legs but I'm not sure that's good in our atty's, copper and cooking, been a while since I put a penny in my mouth..yuck

I'm using the 2.5 right out of the box with the intention of re-wicking w cotton. Are you saying the video above is not the 2.5? Now that I think about it that video has been out longer than the 2.5 has, right? Am I going to find a diff setup inside the 2.5 when I open it?
FTR, the 2.5 out of the box, rocks. I've been running the 2.4ohm head with a Kick at 7.5w and I'm on at least the 5th tank full and still going strong. I am starting to notice a bit of drop off. Let the experiment begin.

Been liking the 2.4 head so far. I'm about two tanks into this and its working very nicely. I was really hoping I could rebuild this just like in the vid you linked. Are you saying that with the V2.5 I'm going to need NR wire as well? Too bad for me, I dont have any on hand. Is this also another Ebay purchase or can it be sourced locally?
