Yeah I will try that - I had good results with that size wick on my Maxi (as suggested by you) - then Del and those guys suggested something like 23mm mesh, which leaves a much bigger hole, and I don't think it was wicking as good.
Definitely wicking great with this cotton center, but I will have to try the 45mm wick again. I can't wait to get my Line SS so I can do some side-by-side comparisons!
I also wonder if the volcanic effect pulls juice up the cotton faster than it would normally wick, I'm definitely getting good results, but I still have a whole lot of experimenting to do - first thing I will try is the 45mm wick (again) as you suggested, I just don't want to redo my current Line right away because my past attempts at wick rolling have been a little hit or miss (but I'm getting much better), so I don't want to screw up an already great working Line :p
Thanks BJ.

Glad it works for you and that you can get satisfaction from 6 watts on 16ml at 24 nic per day, thats like drinking it instead of vaping it. That would kill me and probably healthier to smoke analogs.Try 6 watts at 0 nic (nada) I get satisfaction from 0 nic at about 10 watts and chain vape 4 to 5 ml a day. Each his own.

Yup, Now I know why they say the things they do about you. I'll leave it at that.

Let's play nice boys...so I tried the butchers string right off the roll without boiling it (cause I'm impulsive, impatient and lazy...that's how I roll:))...blaaaaa, yikes, won't be doing that again...string is easier to work with than the gauze though, ok, so I can shave 15 seconds off a 30 second job...got to get some cheese cloth now...

BJ, is the wick hole in a Line SS the same size as a V2? or do you know?

Sorry you were offended not my intent but 3ml at 12nic is considered equivalent to a pack and you are stating that you consume the nic of more than 10 packs a day, that would kill me. Just stating a fact. Sorry again....

I don't have a SS but I understand it is mechanically the same. Just tore one of my V2 apart today, had a short in the pos post hole, going to put a new silver wire and make the pos post the long one instead of the short post which tends to short out if the coil wire slides down.

You know BJ, I think you bring up a good point. The cotton yarn I've been using often gives a great vape, but I'm starting to notice it actually produces weaker vapor...I also hear a lot less sizzle....hmmmm. I guess I was so caught up in the novelty and flavor that I ignored this...or maybe I've just had variation in my coils/wick thicknesses that is causing it. I dunno.

I've noticed actually a lot less crackling. Using only cheesecloth strands and no SS. It may be worth noting that I'm also presently using coils from old cartos (fresh nichrome is fortunately on the way though thanks to your ~$2 ebay link).

The vapor also seems slightly "smoother" overall. Great by me though.

I'm thinking I probably need the gauze though, so I'm going to try that roll. I have gotten a dryer hit here and there with a pretty full tank, but nothing as bad as on silica. Still, I'm trying for something that will handle chain vaping with aplomb and definitely haven't quite gotten to that point yet (though these are only my first 2 times making coils)

What happened with your butchers string, Q? :?:

Got this today for $.99... Will update when I've tried it. There is no odor from a freshly opened package.

The butcher string gives off a nasty taste off the roll...I guess there must be some sort of "food safe" sizing used in the process of making it, I imagine to keep it from unravelling, not a good taste at all (not like the Bounce Sheet taste from the knitting yarn which I could almost get used to with certain juices :p)...since boiling the butchers yarn for 1/2 hour (3 water changes) it barely holds it twist now, so ya, sizing.

Del and others use 3 and 4 wraps on single batt PVs on their videos, I was never satisfied with that setup.

Yeah that's an issue I'm having. I'm on the list for a STURM MOD, and I'm really excited for it, but at the same time I love my Provari with a higher voltage and more wraps on my coil. I'll still have to do some experimenting, because I do want to use the STURM MOD, but the Provari may still be my main PV.
I don't know much about a Kick, but can I use that in a STURM MOD to achieve 4.2v? That would be ideal, I think.
I just love the look of a STURM MOD, especially when there is a Line on top.. looks so nice!

Sorry again, though, I know this isn't wick related!

Alright, so I ran up to Wally World and purchased a 6 yard package of cheesecloth, and I have to say, this is the best vape I've ever had. I rolled it like I would the SS wick for the SGV3, without the hole in the center, and this stuff wicks with a vengeance even at 60/40 PG/VG. I use tpa red hots at 20% 24mg, and this has given me the sweetest taste and strongest TH I've ever had. I'm running a 3.5 ohm coil at 5v. No burning or otherwise negative experience, but I'll report back when I put it through its paces tomorrow at work.

I purchased the 100% cotton food safe one, and it turns out it was the only cheesecloth they carried in the arts/crafts section.

Now to make this work in the Genesis Mini... :)

So when you say cheese cloth you mean this right?

And you put it in an SGV3?

Yup, that's it! I broke my SGV3 last week as the connector spun and ripped the pos/neg wires from it when trying to unscrew it on my provari, but I just used the same method of rolling a rectangular piece of SS but with the cheesecloth, and stuck it in my Ato-Miser. Works like a champ!

re: cotton yarn

it seems to vary between set ups, I was playing last night/this a.m.

the short strand of yarn that goes in my phoenix is absolutely blazing

the thick, longish wick in my stardust is absolutely blazing (but flavor blows, as it always does for me with the stardusts)

its the CE2s that are giving me trouble. smoother and more flavorful, but thinner vapor for sure, and little to no crackle. I think there's just too much wick. I recall (I think) when I used ~2 strands of the 4stranded yarn it worked much better. It's almost like it wicks so well that the 4-stranded yarn is pulling up way to much juice to the atomizer and not letting it heat up as much as I'd like

I'm still trying to find the optimal thickness/density to roll the gauze, but so far this thing has been amazing. Clouds and clouds of vapor. I'm currently at 3,9V with 2,4 ohm coil using a very thin gauze roll. I'm trying to get it to wick enough to use 4,5V+; maybe 2 or 3 strands on thin rolls would do the trick.

Awesome, glad someone else is having a good experience with cheesecloth! If my Line SS ever gets here (tracking hasn't updated in 3 days, and it's out of customs!) I will be trying the full cheesecloth wick.
So you didn't even take out the strands and twist them together, you just rolled up a piece of full cheesecloth? I will have to try that as well!
Thanks for the report!
