Yeah, I had a slight taste for the first 5 mins as well... it goes away fast, though, luckily! I boiled it as well, but I have a feeling it didn't really do anything.. it's already ready to use in food anyway.
I didn't boil mine at all, I literally cut it, rolled it up, and started
vaping. I flooded the wick before I started vaping though, just to make sure it would wick properly, and I never got an odd taste from it. However, I vape cinnamon red hots, so I'm sure it's covering up any odd tastes that would originally have been there.
The awesome part about the cheesecloth is that there has been no discoloration at the coil portion of the wick, that I typically got with cotton yarn, silica, and even the cotton candle wick mentioned earlier in the thread. As soon as I get home I will take a picture of the wick, and how it looks perfect on the Ato-Miser. Be forewarned though, I rolled a massive wick so I don't have to drip on it every 5 seconds, I can get a good 30 - 40 hits on it before it needs more juice
