DonG, and anyone that's using Cotton in a unit 'meant' for vertical SS mesh set up, how does it compare? Is the vapor volume equal? Wicking? Are you tipping the PV more, less?

Just got a Z atty Pro, and I'm in love, but already I'm feeling the FEVER come on lol

Now if that is Modumust Fever, ya know I run a free clinic for those who suffer from it and your always welcome there.

Yes it is my friend! The cotton is speaking to me, and the cheap line that failed to work well is looking at the Z atty and saying: "Why don't you spend some time getting me to work like that? Now that you have a template..."

Perhaps I should ask a co worker to write me for some Haloperidol today LOL

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. (Quigs, drinking? maybe? I'm just saying, were worried about you man, when your drinking affects your ability to roll wicks and post. I think we have a right to be concerned.)
So back to my original point. Gummy, tell me do we get to sit in a circle and have free 2 day old coffee? Because if so, "hello my name is Ken, and I am a modaholic". I believe its beginning to effect my home life and my kids. I may need help.
DonG, I must apologize, I didn't mean to steal your post. I just couldn't help myself. (signs of a problem)

Ah, I'm back, crazy Canada Day long weekend (spent down at the cottage in WA. go figure ), buddies, thick steaks, liquor, power tools and fire arms...just doesn't get any better :D)

back to rolling wicks...on Friday I found my GTUS in the mail box waiting for me, pretty happy about that, I had one before and sold it...sold it before I knew about cotton. I did what I did on the last one and drilled out the mid section hole to about 3 mm and stuck a nice fat rolled cotton wick in....I recall with my first GTUS messing with it for weeks before I finally got it sorted and working half decent...this time on cotton, pfft!, right out of the gate it rocks...vaped on it all weekend wishing all my devices where this good (and trouble free, usually I'm on an IO6 bottom feeder after day 2 cause the RBA pooched). For those unfamiliar, the GTUS is a top tank vert wick genny by Scuba, almost identical to the Cyclon (sp?) out of the UK...temperamental as hell on mesh re: wicking issues and the syphon effect causing a vacuum in the tank...

As far as rolled cotton on my other vert wicks, you saw my vid, both my Lines are on cotton and my coming mini scuba's (similar to Van's Maxi and Mini and Zen's Z Atty's) will all be on cotton (for the most part, I still like playing with mesh )...but now that I've had a chance to try cotton on a top tank to see how it would work, I really have to say, I'm fully converted, mesh has become a mere curiosity.

I've been trying to find a GTUS that includes the Drip Mode cap along with the tanks, but I'll be damned if I can find one. I signed up for the ERA Group Buy at UKV, and I'll keep my eye out for a GTUS. Thanks for your review on it, it's reaffirmed my wanting of one :D

Keep an eye on the classys, I've seen 3-4 GTUS's on there and for a real good price...less than $100...mostly because, as mentioned, they can be trying on mesh and peeps just give up on them...but they are one serious solid piece of hardware....Dan did a great job...snag one quick before others discover the cotton alternative ;)...it's basically an upside down 5ml Line...they have an issue with what's become known as "tank creep" but that's easily solved with a 10 cent wave washer

Yeah, I saw those last week, and the good prices, but I haven't seen any the last couple of days. I went ahead and put up a wanted ad, hopefully it'll generate at least 1 person willing to sell one. I might buy two if the price is right :)

I may have to get in touch with you over PM if I can snag one, on the idiosyncrasies, and the mid-section stuff.

Np, I know it's been done but maybe I throw a vid up of the GTUS rolled cotton re-wick as well...been playing with it all morning trying different sized wicks and all...I would have thought that you'd need to make a wick that would be the perfect balance between sealing the mid section hole (so that juice wouldn't just pour down into the vap chamber making a mess) and not so big that it chokes...seems it's not too fussy, the wick I have in there now is fairly loose but it doesn't leak, I guess there's some kind of crazy fluid dynamics going on there, defies reason actually...but wow can you get a hit off this thing

Picked up a Ce-5-6-7? with the replaceable coil. Well ya know the first thing I did was replace the replaceable coil and wick and soldered in my own coil with gauze wick. Mmmmm boy, I likey. It has a nice screw on 2+ mil tank and tip. I'm gonna git me some more of these puppies. O Ya.;)

Speaking of fiddling with SS. I come to the conclusion that it's only good for dipping and smelling the vapor. I pulled out some old juice from the junk drawer and dipped and whiffed and it smelled real good. Vapin it another story though.:ohmy:

Happy 4th.:toast::toast:

...a replaceable coil that needs to be soldered in place?

Some tips on cotton in the gtus which may be obvious to you. I ran my wick diagonally between the post so there is no lead on the wire to get maximum coil heat. You can also persuade it closer to the edge and position the air intake hole right on it. I made the wicks longer than needed so could quickly cut off the spent part and rethread the clean wick into the coil. If you have wicking issues make the wick thinner (thinner than you think it should be) where it enters the tank.

I think he's talking of the Vivi Nova
Vision Vivi Nova Review - YouTube

or maybe it's the smaller version
510 Crystal Vision Cartomizers

They both use the same heads. According to the review, there is no soldering involved.

I was part of a thread a few weeks ago and there was a member who said he solders the kanthal to the silver posts in a Genesis type RBA. I remember specifically asking him about the silver melting. I couldn't tell you where or who for the life of me, but we definetly had the conversation.
