My firs new GGTS will be here today so excited... now time to learn to make my coils LR.. how many wraps for 34 nichrome to get 1.5 ohm or lower? thanks guys
1.5 or less on 34 NiCr...that may be tough...2, maybe 3...for low res coils it's a good idea to go to a thicker wire so you can get more wraps and spread your heat out a bit...1.7 is about my tipping point...if I want to go less I switch to 30 from 32 Kanthal...if you want to build LR coils, 34 awg NiCr or Kanthal isn't very useful I'm afraid.
Don't know how your winding it but, 1" of 34 gauge NiChrome will give 1.5 ohms.:>)
You're not beaten yet...there is a way, and if you pull it off, gain vape master status to boot
...build a helical dual coil...the principal behind it is, another way to get a 1.5 ohm total R coil is to put two 3 ohm coils in parallel...take 2 pieces of your NiCr, put them side by side and twist 1/3 of it together, put that up against your wick and grab one of the legs and make a lazy 3 ohm wrap (try and keep 2 mm between your wraps) then take the other leg and also do a 3 ohm wrap (keeping that wire in the center of the spaces of the first wrap)...where the two wires leave the wick at the other end...twist them together...meter it out, should be 1.5 ohms total resistance...fiddly as hell (but I love that kinda stuff)...
I was just working off an on-line table re: NiCr res...it read 17 ohms/ft...but if it works out to 1.5 ohms/1"...that's not too bad

Looking at the Bed Bath & Beyond item image, I see nothing that says 'Pyrex'. It's all cotton, no type of glass in the cheesecloth. Why would they list it as "Pyrex Cheese Cloth"?!?

ok, went to bb&b and got my cheesecloth. now what? do i just cut a piece and roll it up to about 2mm, the size of a cotton braided wick or what. i make pretty good rebuilds with 1/0 braided wick and 32 kanthal wire already. wanted to see if cheesecloth was better. (ya know, one of those guys always trying to get a little extra until i break it,lol..........vince
