Might be my eyes, but I see some doodads in the pic that didn't get the gold plating, maybe as it would scratch off anyways?

I would think that after man-handling that unit with juicy fingers that plating wouldn't be long in this world TC but you also mentioned gold plating in pursuit of better conductivity...actually silver is the best conductor (at temps above -200 degrees anyway )...in fact I think copper beats gold in the conduction arms race...it's just the fact that gold doesn't corrode that it's use in fine contacts.

Got some Aunt Lydia's #10, thanks Quig, wrapped a 2.5mm dia 32g A 1 coil 2.4 ohm around 12 threads on a vivi nova. No overwick. Wicking is the best I have seen with cotton or bamboo, vaper volume impressive, and excellent TH and flavor.

haha! your video is linked in more places than you know! mok's and bucky's co-op threads where people are getting their duds and are having a hard time! i stuck it in chopper's defcon thread and gormly's griffin thread. people are trying the rbas because of the reasonable price and some haven't done much homework!

Lidies #10 bamboo for a couple days now on my Penelope and it's been working good but I've had to open the juice control all the way where with cotton I only had to open it up a little ways. I thought the bamboo swells when wet and held a lot of juice so why am I having to run my penny wide open?

I think I finally have success with cotton wick in the Vivi Nova, thanks to this thread.

I've been having nothing but fits (except the original silica, which works pretty well). Original plan was some Peaches and Cream #4... split it in half (2 strands), but not enough wicking, same with 3 strands. Tried cheesecloth wick (per Quig), but had strong cotton taste with it and dry vapor (basically ended up with terrible cotton mouth), even after a tank.

Wrapped a coil around a 2mm screw to try mrelwood's SS/cotton hybrid (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/rebuildable-atomizer-systems/295410-vivi-nova-rebuild-tutorial-38.html#post7344906), but was all thumbs with that tiny little SS wick.

Went back to the Peaches and Cream to give this a try. Used a homemade needle threader from a spare piece of Kanthal, put a long piece of Peaches & Cream in it at the half-way point, pulled it through the coil, then cut the loop on one side. Result is two full pieces of #4 through the coil.

So far, it's vaping quite well!

I picked up some Aunt Lydia's #10 bamboo at Michaels, which I'll try next.

I haven't observed that bamboo swells very much, unlike the cotton material that I used. It does seem to wick faster, in my experience.

I'm not quite sure how the flow control works on those devices, or why bamboo would warrant a change in it. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd look at the diameter or density of the wicks you have made with the bamboo thread. It's easy to vary the amount used with this stuff. Personally, I usually use 8 threads to make a wick, and always make sure to leave a bit of wiggle room in the coil by using a fairly thick paper clip to wrap around.

I need to point out something for those of you that are sticking with cotton because you're worried about viscose. Viscose is cellulose fiber. Cotton fiber is 90% cellulose. Both are biodegradable. I'm not particularly worried about either one and from a health standpoint, I don't see much difference. Besides you go 3 days or so on one wick. When you're done most of it is still there. Two or three hits off a cigarette probably does more damage than you are getting in that 3 days.

You just do tmcase, Ody is the same way...wide open...like the mouthpiece is only hanging on by a few threads wide open, lol
