Jazzy, thanks for doing all the testing on these different wicks. By the time my ody clone gets in at the end of the month, you should have this down for me.

You are most welcome, but BJ43 gave me the right direction originally with his 1mm hemp find. I just took a chance and ordered the 2mm hemp (which is actually 1.5mm dry). Sure saves me the hassle of having to rebuild everytime I forget to pay attention to my chain vaping while reading.... Dude, if it's a Terminator, you're gonna love it.

Natural I believe. I think I read that the white is dyed.

I asked the ebay seller of the hemp that I am using if he could get us the same twine in 2mm and it looks like he will have it by the end of the week. Here is his email:

Out of curiosity, when using the oval coil, is the oval sitting in the Nova head vertically, or horizontally? I plan on using the hemp I purchased in a Terminator, and would like to replicate your configuration within it.

Vertical, the reason I first made an oval wick was to get more 28g wire in a vivi. My ovals would not fit in a vivi horizontal.

Gotcha, I just didn't know if by some weird way, gravity would play a role in forcing all the liquid down to the lower wick, causing burning on the top one or not.

Good point, but I have not noticed when replacing the wicks, any difference in the top wick from the bottom wick. Both seem to have the same amount of gunk.

I decided to try the BJ oval finally in my mini vivi, I filed down two tootpicks so that they could slide in and out of the slot on the vivi head, built a coil, and pulled 10 strands of lydia through (got rid of 1 strand for 9 total, the 10 felt too tight)

Its not wicking shyte! lol. The juice is just sitting there. Occasionally I'll get a good hit, a really good hit, like holy crap its my ERA/A7 etc. But otherwise its dry hit city. My previous divine comedy was with the hemp in a CE2. Never had it this bad! Only thing I can think of us its so damn cold around here lately that the wicks just aren't taking up my juice as fast. This one wasn't as bad as the hemp, in that the juice wasn't quite beading off of the wick, but it still wasn't soaking in and puffing the way I usually see it do.

anyway back to the lab later this evening, just wanted to share my pain lol. Off to play doctor for the day.

Cyrus, I wrap my coil around a 1.1mm screwdriver and use 6 strands of unwashed anty's #10 and never get a dry hit/burn on my CE2. I don't know what size toothpick you use (mine are much bigger than my srewdriver) but it seems to me you would need more than 9 strands with a double sized oval. No? I was waiting for my hemp to come in to make a oval coil. I think I'll make one with Lydias and post the results. :>)

Edit. Are you using round toothpicks or the little flat ones?
