I've been using some 3mm silica wick that i bought a coupple weeks ago.. Just 1 meter.. Its not really "tight wrapped" and the smell is kinda like "old clothes". I've been having this weird rubbery taste on my fresh wicks i usually have to get some good use on them and maybe some black goo going before that rubbery taste dissapears.
Today i got my 3mm silica from silicawicks.com this is also 3mm but its more tightly wrapped. The smell is just like a new book when you crank it open and stick your nose into the middle for a wiff. At first i thought that would be a bad thing.. But i made 3 wicks today off it and the rubbery taste is gone! The taste is good from first hit
I even tried to make a wick of the old silica and the .... taste was back.
So if you struggle with some bad taste on your pen or ody, get some book smelly wick!
Im just happy the smell is gone sorry if i wasted your time hehe
