Got a smok RSBT - and did my first build
(a lot like the two post kayfun/taifun decks)

2mm diameter 8/7 wrap 28g kanthal A1 = 1.2 ohms

Wicked with japanese cotton through the coil and just out past the juice well holes.

Filled it with Cosmic Fog 50/50 Milk and Honey

OMG. I love this thing! This is the thing that can keep me off real cigs, I thought...

until....

As the tank went on I got a drier and drier hit... So I need to change my wicking somehow.

More cotton? Less cotton? Add a strip for 'flavor wick' ?

Help!

Yes, wicking does make a difference if it is not right. I really pay attention to the tricks/techniques that I learned (here).

I use a 5/64 drill bit to wrap the wire and attach it to the posts. I trim the excess as close as I can. Then I test the coil on a tester AND a MOD at 9 watts. Lets me see that all works.

The wick should not be to tight in the coil. The wick after it departs the coil should be "splayed" out and just touch the deck below.

Then I put the bottom piece of the chimney and test it on just an Ohm tester to make sure that the coil is not touching the chimney and shorting out. Then I put 5 drops to presoak the wick and fire it to make sure all is ready to close up.

Then I close and load.

Just took practice and a bit of understanding for me. I use 28ga and 7 wraps. I vary it now, but that was where I started.

If I think it is getting dry, I put my finger over the air hole and take some SMALL draws so that I pull some liquid into the firing chamber. It is just experimenting.

Hope helps

Re-wicked - puffed out the cotton on either side of the coil and bent it down to the deck then brought some of the fluff ends to help keep the holes from being fully open - also moved the coil down just a touch. Seems to be working much better.

Thanks!
