i just got into rda's and purchased a Nimbus clone, and i am currently on my 2nd coil build, after watching many of Ripps videos on YouTube, i got me a bag of organic cotton balls, and its easy enought to work with but im not getting that great of flavor, i stopped by my local B&M today and explained my situation to the owner and he pulled out his mod and added some of the same juice im using and let me hit it a few times, and it was night and day compared to mine, he said he uses cotton yarn, he called it Peaches & Cream, said you can geat a ball of it for a couple bucks, and the flavor was awesome.
thanks in advance for any and all advise.

I've tried cotton balls (boiled first) but the flavor was terrible. I also tried the Peaches & cream and that didn't do anything for me either. I've tried braided cotton rope and that was good and so was ecowool but now I only use German Silica as it's the best tasting that I've tried so far. It has to be made in Germany silica. Regular silica mutes flavor for me. I boil all my wicking material before I use it and torch the ecowool and German silica before I wrap them.

I now use Peaches & Cream cotton yarn. I find it a little easier to work with. At this time I'm using two different size coils. For my Igo-s's I use 30g, 1/16" dia. coils, and for the larger RM2's I use 29g, .070" dia. I like the yarn because I can separate the strands. For the smaller coil it takes 4 strands, and 5 strands for the larger coil, no pulling and rolling the cotton, and guessing how much.

In order of likes I use Twick a Cotton, ekowool hybrid. Has a cotton core and a ekowool shell. Then it's a toss up for me. Some aps cotton is best like in RDAs. But others like the Kayfuns i like the twick or just plain good ekowool. I use regular silica wick on some still like when i rebuild my protank heads. If you use cotton make sure its unbleached and if possible organic. I prefer cotton cord for most times when i use cotton but drippers cotton balls.

I've found the biggest differences in wicking is in how it's built, rather than the material. If it's too thin, it doesn't touch the coil everywhere causing hot spots, too thick, dense and there's no room for the juice, only dry wick touching the coil. If it's too long, you end up with a sodden mass of wick but the liquid doesn't ever get to the coil, too short and it can't hold enough or reach the liquid to supply the coil.
