Let's see if anyone can clue me in on this one:

Charger 1: Standard charger that came with my Joye 510 kit. Like this Joye 510 AC Charger
Symptom: I take a fully discharged eGo battery and put it on to charge. It charges somewhere near 15-30 minutes then the light turns green.....no way it's done. I removed it and put it back and get a red charging light, and it charges another 20 minutes or so, rinse repeat until it finally shows green all the time.

Charger 2: USB charger + AC adapter that came with this kit: 510 eGo Kit
Symptom: Charges normally for 1-3 hours then begins showing green...red....green....red. Also, if I put a battery on this one that shows fully charged on the other Joye 510 charger, it will show red and charge for another hour or so before going to the red/green/red/green cycle.

Any ideas? This happens on nice, cleaned battery and charger contacts, so it's not from juice build up.

Couple thoughts -

1) Is your battery holding the charge? If it vapes for 10 - 12 hours after charging - the indicator lights may be wonky but everything is still working. If it's not holding the charge - then you have a problem.

I would test the charger with a 510 battery and see if it replicates the problem. If so - your charger is faulty and may have been the victim of a power surge. If not - it's likely the problem is with your battery.

As with any rechargeable lithium batteries - the possible issues are too many to number. Could be anything from power surge to flooding, to moisture to internal break down. You'll likely need to purchase a new battery.

2) Depletion levels - lithium's should never be entirely depleted. As batteries go, they always prefer to be recharged before dying a sputtering death. If you wait until they are completely discharged, your battery may not work again. Recharging from complete "dead" requires time and patience. Just plug it in - ignore led lights and let it recharge for 5 hours at least. If it starts working again you should be good to go. If it doesn't - keep it plugged in for another 5 hours and repeat.

If all else fails - wrap it in a dry towel (really tight) and put it in the freezer for a couple hours - then start again. This occasionally works.

Good luck!

All 4 of my eGo batteries do this. All 4 work fine and seem to be fully charged after ~3 hours or so on the charger...it's just that I have to keep an eye on them due to the charger apparently thinking they are charged before they are.

By "fully discharged" I just meant to the point that the circuitry cut them off. I don't think you can really "fully" discharge an eGo battery.

I've heard of charger lights acting wonky - LED's doing what they are not supposed to do. I'm assuming this is related to a vulnerability in the electronics. If you're eGo's are charging I wouldn't worry about it too much. The charging action doesn't stop when the green light comes on - it's simply an indicator. As far as I know with Lithiums - you can't overcharge them.

I have two eGo kits. One that came with 510 attys and one that came with Mega attys (both with eGo 650 batteries.) Both of my chargers act the same. Plugged in, the block on the plug has a red LED to show that it has power, the smaller block at the end where I screw in the batteries glows green until I screw on the battery. Then it glows red and blinks green until it is fully charged and glows constant green. I think the more "discharged" the battery is the longer the interval between the green blinks getting faster until it is fully charged.
