LOL, I use a meter for all my measuring also. Have a gripper on order for the fun of it, and figured I deserved it for not buying any mods/APVs in over a year....
Hurray no mods for a year what self control!!!. Which E-Cig or E-Cigs lasted that long.? Please check back in and tell about the gripper. Is it the MadVapes one.?
I have a Provari which lasted me 15 months before the Vivi Nova 1.8OHm Cartomizer did a number on it, and the only other one I bought was a backup. VV Ego/510 system which is a cheapy and I don't trust at all.
The first Provaris were made at a time when Low Res and dual cartomizers weren't mainstream. By the way 1 year and 1/2 is the longest that a PV has ever lasted for me. So I'm not complaining.
To give Provape credit, for $20.00 they will upgrade your unit to the V2 which will kick out 3.5amps. That is very good aftermarket service. Most companies make you buy a new unit to get the new features.
They also will repair the units reasonably.
Recently while my Provari was out of commission, I decided that I wanted something smaller and bought a Mini Lava Tube Chrome type PV (Young Jeune VS Latest). It was a disaster, the first one literally started burning up with smoke coming out of the LED. I pulled that battery out fast. Vendor crosshiped the replacement and on the second the Vivi Nova and the 1.5 dual both wouldn't work on it unless I turned it about a 1/3 of a turn and it was wobbling. Than a day later the sweet spot dissapeared. I loved the looks and size of the unit but had to return it. I wont' say which model it was or who I purchased it from because the seller was absolutely top notch in his customer service, so I dont' want to hurt his business, and maybe I was jinxed.
It seems that the ratio of negatives to Positives on just about every mod out their now that's a mini is too high. Except for the Mini Provari. I'd buy a mini provari except for two reasons. 1 the finish is that same satin indestructable finish and color that is on my regular Provari. It's just too boring . Yes I know new colors are coming out but none of those turn me on 2. The price is very high. I'm not saying that the value isn't their. But I'm just not ready to lay out another huge expenditure.
I've been through all the forums looking for a small mod and the Varicool caught my eye. Very Tiny, Simple, advanced features. The most important though was that I searched the reviews high and low and their were hardly any negative reviews.
Drawback is the styling, but I'm thinking that I could have some real fun with this one. Maybe make an Iron box or a wood box to put it in. Or coat it with velvet or even Ductape for extra protection.
According to the reviews this one inside is using some fancy technology that extends battery life big time, while vaping like a champ at 3amp, so if I have a unit that's 1/2 the size of the Provari, vapes strong, and batteries will last 24 hours. Than I'll be a very happy camper.
I just ordered one and I'll check back in to tell about my impressions. It should be here on Friday. I can't wait!!!
....been using a couple "Puck" mods I threw together, nominal 4.8v, "regulated" up or down with my thumb...hold it longer for more, let go for less, on & off for medium. Works amazingly well for <$10 and a 1/2 hour work. With 2.7-3.2 ohm attys or cartos the wattage hits my sweet spot. I'm not trying so many juices anymore, DIY mostly and 3-4 flavors 90% of the time. Gotten into a deep smoke free rut, and loving it...
