Will an 801 adapter fit Tornado and still have cover fit over it

I'm getting a RiVa in a few hours and I ordered 10 801 attys, a spare cone and adapters from Heaven-gifts (they should be here in two weeks, as I paid the cheapest shipping). I ordered before reading this and I was confident it could be done. My idea is not to cut through the cone directly, but rather put it on a lathe and use a drill bit the size of an 801 atty to widen the hole on it. I hope using the drill bit leaves me with a smoother and perfecly perpendicular edge, but we'll see. It should be no problem, I'll try to post pics when I'm done with that.
