I got the Vamo and a beautiful Phiniac tank and now I'm just waiting for the batteries and charger to arrive from DX. I'm getting a little worried that I ordered the wrong batteries though, so I'm wondering if I could get some answers/opinions on these.

Batteries: TrustFire Protected 18650 3.7V True 2400mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Charger: TrustFire TR-001 Multi-Purpose Lithium Battery Charger - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Will this work good with my Vamo? Will the charger suit the batteries?

I know nothing about voltages and over/under charging etc. The batteries are 3.7 volts and the charger has a switch on the side for 3.6 or 3.0 volts. I assume I should set it to 3.6 volts?

The TR-001 will work, more on that in a bit, but the TrustFire batteries I would stay away from... You want AW, Efest, or Panasonic IMR 18650 High Drain Unprotected batteries.

Flat top or button top will work fine with the Vamo, doesn't matter...

The IMR batteries have a much safer chemistry, and the high drain makes them better suited for APV's... The protected batteries get complained about regularly that either the device or the battery protection circuit will trip, and it just stops working. The low drain can't keep up with the demand... The high drain IMR batteries are the only way to fly!

The TR-001 charger also has its issues... One being that they are inconsistent from one charger to another. Specifically, some of them will overcharge the batteries, some of them will undercharge... So you have to kind of babysit...

For a budget minded quality charger I would recommend the XTar WP2II charger... It stops the charge at 4.2 volts every time, and only picks back up again if the voltage drops...

The TR001 goes into a trickle state at the charge completion, rather than cutting off completely.

Not good for these types of batteries... Greatly reduces their expected service life

The Trustfire Protected batteries will play Havoc with your Vamo circuitry, because your Vamo has inbuilt protection. It really doesn't like them. As for Trustfire Charger it's ok if you want to spend 8hrs charging one battery XTAR chargers cut the time in half and the newer models even more.

As you are based in Europe this site may help you the list provided has all the Batteries that have been tested and are Suitable for use in a Vamo.

You also want to pop over to the Vamo Forum for loads more info.
For a Vamo you want IMR batteries, not protected. IMRs have safer chemistry and are designed to handle high drain.
An IMR 18650 is the long size, and an IMR 18350 the short size. The lifespan will depend on the number of charge cycles, which is about 500 charges. Generally you would replace them after a year.

A lot of people get the batteries and chargers from RTD Vapor. Here's what you would need:

Charger:
Battery Chargers : Xtar WP2 II

Any of these batteries - two of whichever brand:
18605s
AW IMR 18650 2000 mAh
or
Batteries : Efest IMR 18650 Button Top
or
Batteries : Panasonic Hybrid/ IMR CGR18650CH Button Top

18350s:
Batteries : AW IMR 18350 3.7V 700mAh
or
Batteries : Efest IMR 18350 Button Top

If you want to know more about batteries I suggest reading the ECF guide:

The Intellicharge I4 is very good, the batterynerds over at the flashlightforums gives it a thumbs up. :)
I have it and it performs flawlessly. It charges any size battery, which can be handy if you buy other mods.
I'd get a 18350 as well, personally I much prefer using the Vamo in 18350 mode due to the smaller size.
