Not a good idea. You don't want or need additives like food coloring. Apple juice concentrate is just another way to say "sugar" - which will gunk up your coils and wicks fast. The overall concentration of flavoring to water and alcohol in there will be weak for your purposes. You will need more like 20% or more - which won't result in decent vapor production. Bottom line: this stuff is made for eating, not inhaling. There are reasons why some flavorings manufacturers have two separate product lines - one for baking and one for e-cigarette use.

I have had varied success with Lorann Oils candy flavorings, most people will tell you to avoid oils, but Lorann Oils is the name brand, its not actually an oil from what i can tell, in fact the Watermelon flavor which is my favorite from that line to use, is water, glycerin, PG, flavor, alc, and two different reds. Now some of them might not be suitable for ecig use, and I think I had to use 15% flavoring in my mix with these, but i use a 50/50 pg vg blend and it vaped alright for me, and the watermelon tasted like a jolly rancher which was quite enjoyable. The bubble gum flavor is another I have had success with from that brand, butter rum not so much... it vaped, but the flavor reminded me of a watered down egg nog, so I cannot recommend that one.

Will my local Vape store sell concentrates? I feel like they won't because they want you to buy their e juice.

Also is there anything that you would recommend to use to flavor a vg + water base that you could buy at your local supermarket?

To both questions, probably not. The vape store does want you to buy their e-juice, as the markup on ejuice is pretty high -- markup=profit. And grocery stores know nothing about e-cigs or vaping; they sell food and some personal items. You could possibly find VG in a good grocery, and certainly in drug stores, but most likely not PG; you probably need to go to Amazon for that, and a good price on it.

Last question is an 80-20 vg-water mix about right?

Without at least a litte PG in there, you won't taste very much of *any* flavor, and will have pretty much zero throat hit; PG is much better than VG at "carrying" flavor, and it provides most of the throat hit. And if you add water, there will probably be a lot less vapor; but if you did add water, it would need to be highly purified -- distilled or reverse-osmosis purified.

But definitely don't use store-bought food flavorings for vaping; as someone pointed out, it's meant to be eaten, not inhaled; sugar and colorings will gunk up your coils something awful, and there may be additives that are safe to eat, but highly dangerous to vaporize and inhale.

I've been experimenting and what I'm doing it letting it sit till about half the alc volume evaps... a day seems about right--I suppose you could heat it and evap quicker but I'm in no hurry.

5% is only 1/2 ml so -- I would say half that to start and adjust from there...some steeping may be required as well.

Experimentation is fun though so have at it and have fun!

Working on making vanilla and coffee now...gonna try mixing some later today

What you really want for DIY are the flavor components...AND NO OILS (I mean oil in the literal sense)....

These come from flavor manufacturers that extract specific molecules, mix them, and then make a flavoring. They can be made synthetically or extracted naturally. But basically, flavorings like vanilla extract are made by soaking vanilla beans in alcohol and extracting everything. Fine if you're eating it. Bad if you're DIYing it, IMO.

So go online, and get the proper stuff. Maybe research pre-paid credit cards while you are at it for online purchases. Then see the vendor list on the front page. Flavorings are inexpensive...get some standard ones like vanilla, grape, spearmint, etc...single vapable flavors. See the DIY section for more info. Add cracker crumb and cookie base flavors etc later...there's a bunch.

McCormick may work in a pinch, but I wouldn't use it for long term use...or at all for vaping really. Stuff like that is mostly water/alcohol anyway...OK for cooking though.

So it looks like I'll need to buy extract online, my next question is will I be able to taste it without pg? (Using just vg water and extract) I don't want nicotine in my e juice and I vape simply for the flavor and vapor.

Yes is the short answer. Most people do talk about PG being the flavor carrier in juice and that's right to a point. You can get good flavorfull juice using just VG, but you will more than likely have to up the percentages of flavoring a little.

I make my own 20/80 (PG/VG) juice that has plenty of flavor and throat hit. In my experience most of the TH comes from the nicotine anyway and is only slightly affected by the ratio of PG. So if you are not going to be using nicotine, the only way to increase the throat hit would be to increase the PG ratio.

One way to start would be to begin with your preferred blend use that as a benchmark - then experiment how adding more PG affects the flavor compared to it, keeping the flavoring percentage the same. Then experiment with the flavoring percentages.
