I hope you don't mind a noob question while we're on the subject. How long do you clean your atty's. Do you soak them in vodka, or just dunk them in, swish it around and
throw the vodka away?
If you soak them, how long do you soak them for?
I experimented and came up with this...
Soaking overnight absolutely strips the atty of residue, but this method has flaws. There is an electrical insulator that houses the center conductor (positive) of the atty from the outer shell (minus). Shortly after soaking an atty overnight in Everclear I lost the atty due to a dead short. I can't be certain but I believe that soak damaged the insulator. Plus, attys soaked overnight seemed to have a strange taste to them. YMMV, as they say.
I dont clean attys all that often anymore but when I do (usually to remove a liquid taste that I didnt like) I drip two drops of Everclear directly on the atty and let it sit for a minute or two -- then just vape it away. You can read about "dry burns" within the forum. I call this a wet burn. It has the added advantage of a quick buzz. LOL Sometimes, you'll taste e-liquids that you long ago forgot you tried. =)
After just a few hits of the wet burn I remove the atty and wash it with dish washing soap. Then rinse with LOTS of water. Blow it out, allow it to dry and it's good to go. Seems to work for me...
