Will USB passthrough kill my atty?

Hi all, just a quick question. I have recently taken delivery of a very smart looking USB passthrough for my 901. Given the temporary death of my charger it seems like a very good idea and it is ruthlessly efficient, giving me a cloud the size of Belgium and a throat hit that I haven't had since I played rugby.

Question is...will this enhanced powah murder my atomiser? Every so often when I take a nice big vapory drag it sort of goes 'ffssssst' and gets quite hot. I cant work out if it cuts out automatically and I'm thinking that it if supplies more electricity to the atty than a battery does, will the pay-off be taken out of the longevity of the atomiser?

I'm fine with that if it does but it would be good to know so I can get some more spares ordered in.

It probably does. All good things comes with price - so while you are at it, grab a few atomizers if you can. Atomizers are, like batteries, disposable assets.

Like Lachesis I have a feeling it does happen that way. So I have decided to dedicate one attie to the USB passthrough. If it succumbs, I'll wait at least a fortnight (or until payday) before replacing it.

Great vape with the USBP, but I'm not gonna throw atties at it one after another though. All things in moderation.

Well I can't tell you if it burns up attys faster, but I can tell you it's a known fact that the 4075's just heat hotter than hell sometimes and I don't like that when I get that burnt icky taste. I just set it down for a while and let it chill out.

Another defect that can kill an atomizer with the passthough is the swtich sticking on or slowly fading off after each drag---it happens with the auto passthoughs all to quick and you really do not even notice it so be on the look out for it!!!! Sun

A USB pass-through is not a death warrant for an atomizer. Most e-cig batteries supply up to 4 volts of power to the atomizer. A pass-through, without an in-line battery, may provide up to 5 volts. As far as the current rating of a USB port, it can vary from 300mA (which is way to low) to over 1 amp (this is very good). Nothing is set in stone so you need to develop some best practices when dealing with higher-voltage vaping.

First, if the atomizer feels hot, let it cool for a minute or two before taking another draw.
Second, keep the atomizer moist. This may mean topping off your cart more often or, if you are a dripper, to drip a drop or two more often. We do not want to drown the atomizer, just keep it wet enough to create vapor.

If your pass-through has a manual switch, you will have to learn to leave the device alone when it is really hot and not drip when it is in that condition. Trust me, I have a 6 volt plus battery pack that has fired three of my atomizers. Take it slowly and learn what you can and cannot do with your devices.

I unscrew my att a little when I replaced card/fill, because I have hear a sizzle once in a while, when I take out the cart. I do this with pT and battery's.The switches are very sensitive.

atomizers are fickle beasts but to my knowledge usb passthroughs don't have anymore chance to mess them up than a battery. Always have a couple of spares on hand though is my advice.

Finally, some advice on Atty's and USB PT...

I killed 2 attys in less then a week.
1 was old, other was new.

My question is my PT is homemade, and i hit it like hot wiring a car.
At least, till my lazy but gets up and puts it togehter with a switch.
But is there such a thing as too much amp/volts?
WIll a Powered USB hub on a monitor provide too much power?
