I'm not a menthol smoker, in fact before they removed from packages, mine used to say "lowest in tar and nic" I think. It's been a while so I don't remember for sure. I smoke Now 100s.

Thanks glo and creepylady. I'll check out the blu packs at the store.
So I got this 100% VG in the mail today from Heavenly, and it doesn't seem to work. It's very thick...I got it into the new ... is it called carto? Anyway that clear thing that holds the juice. So I put my eGo battery on it and it didn't crackle like the other juice does that works. So I was afraid to take a hit off of it.

I'm losing hope here. I'll keep buying and trying for a while. Just not sure why this one doesn't crackle...cause it's too thick? The inside of the clear thing turned red in one spot like trying to heat it up?

Thanks

Thanks CL. I didn't know you could add water!! It finally worked and not a bad taste! I'll see how the headache does since I'm not inhaling into lungs yet. I did blow out nose and feel a little pressure, but not like before so this may work better for me. This is called Heavenly Tobacco and is 100 VG purity. Thick as heck! I was worried I would get into place you have to keep it out of, but I made it around the little spoke thingy.

You could look around for empty blunt needle top bottles, and transfer some of your eliqud into one. We are using Mt. Baker Vapor eliquids right now, and they sell blunt needle caps that fit their 15 ml and 30 ml bottles for something like 69 cents each. I don't imagine bottles will cost very much. That makes it much easier to avoid getting eliquid down the center hole. Before we got them, I managed to get some in the hole a few times (bad eyesight). No biggie. Just leave the clearo off the battery, take a tissue or paper towel and hold it at the end that screws onto the battery, blow through the mouthpiece. Excess eliquid will go into the tissue or paper towel, and then you can attach the clearo to the battery and vape away.

Sometimes smoke bothers me too, but its a different feel. The vaping causes a more wheezy tight feeling that lasts longer.
I hadn't had any ill effects from vaping at all until a couple of weeks ago. On the Thursday before last, I received the seven new menthol/mint e-juices I ordered from MBV. I tried them all, and (predictably) I really liked one of them by itself (Black Ice), and two others mixed together (USA Menthol and basic Menthol).

When I tried out the Wintergreen, I almost immediately felt a tightness in my lungs, and began wheezing lightly. I put it down and after resting an hour or so, I went back to vaping my Black Ice and Freezing Rain. As I wanted to know for sure if an ingredient of the Wintergreen e-juice was causing an allergic reaction rather than something else, I gave it another try the next morning, and then one more time later that evening. Same result. It felt like someone quite heavy had sat down on my chest.

With the exception of MBV Wintergreen's flavoring, I am vaping every other ingredient - PG, VG, distilled water and nicotine - when I vape any other e-liquid. Therefore, I believe I've isolated some component of the Wintergreen e-liquid's flavoring.

So, I've now gone from simply imagining what an allergy to an e-liquid would be like, to knowing first-hand.

(P.S. - Since it didn't cause any other effects with me than the moderate allergic reaction, I feel confident that the Wintergreen isn't a "bad batch", but instead simply contains an ingredient that doesn't agree with me. Therefore, I'm sending what I have left of the Wintergreen - about 14mL in a 15mL bottle - along with a few other e-juices to Flavored to give out as freebies in ECF's CASAA membership drive. I'm sure someone out there will love the Wintergreen, and not suffer an allergy to any of its ingredients.)

Anyway, I think I will try doing just the mouth thing. I doubt it will be as satisfying to me....but maybe if I just take deep breaths afterward, I don't know. Or do it a while, then when lungs get better maybe I can inhale some.

I was a 2 PAD smoker for 25 yrs. What worked for me is to take a Mouth hit and then at the same time a deep lung inhale through the nose. Then exhale ... it give you the relaxation of a lung hit without taking the vapor into the lungs.

Ann,

I've been off and on analogs and a V2 e cig for about a year now, I've been experiencing some of what you are. I found a nic flavor I liked, which I think is the most important thing for us noob's, and 12 day's ago my Itazte EP showed up and I haven't had an analog in 11 day's and 92% of the time I don't want one.

Vaping is different then smoking to the point that I can't hit it like an analog. I mouth hit, once in my mouth I have draw it into my lungs a bit slower then smoke, this has helped a lot, I never really exhaled analogs through my nose, it always irritated my sinuses even after 35 years of smoking. I'm now able to take bigger hit's now, but I really don't, well except when I'm tired and need that nic booster.
The body has to adjust to vaping much like like it did when we started smoking at 15 yo, but now our lungs are a bit older and beat up;) there's a bit of a learning curve. My wife is where I was a couple weeks ago, her Ego 510T will get her this week and she's really going to try to convert. We had to adjust her juice to a 70/30 because 50/50 was to much of a throat hit for her, that seems to have helped her.

Hang in there.

Tadow...so there are really people who can breath better when smoking than when not? I remember telling people on a cold turkey board that one time and they laughed at me like it was an excuse. But it has felt that way sometimes!

Back in da late '60s through the mid '70s, I would have at least one bronchitis bout a year. My bride couldn't understand why I would light up while racking my lungs. I told her it helps somehow (for a lil' while). Any relief was precious.

I finally asked an MD. He said that the smoke particles would temporarily stimulate the cilia; egro a lil' relief. BUT, when the particles 'settled', they would just further compound the issue.

So put me in that 'laugh at me' category. So glad those days are loooog gone!

Well tonight I decided to give it a shot. Got some new e-juice in the mail - tried Heather's again too. Heather's 100% VG is thick, and worried about getting into the hole you aren't supposed to, but I think I did ok. Blew threw the hole just in case.

Anyway....trying various kinds...and the wick up in the cart turned red some...rolled it around some so it would make the crackle like it's supposed to when vaping. Long story short...now I'm getting a burnt taste from a couple juices!! Did I burn something out? Or will this go away. Bad taste in my mouth now...ugh.

Still not inhaling into lungs....and not sure when or if I will be able to. Hope so for the full effect to give up analogs. But in the meantime, trying just in the mouth....and I'm sure not going to try the burnt taste into my lungs. I hope this isn't dangerous? Remember....I'm a big chicken here! (funny....haven't been chicken about inhaling 4000 chemicals into lungs that cause me issues). Help?!

hey ann glad to see your not giving up. One thing to experiment with is air flow. If you have a vape shop somewhere see if they have some sort of tank/rba/ something with a large amount of air flow. Something to try. I know for me I would get a heaviness in my lungs before I started drilling out all of my bottom feeder tanks. hope this helps. Oh and by the way hundred percent vg wont work in cartos. Well not very long as you have found out ha.

I've seen where people mix water with e-liquid....does it need to be distilled? Or just plain tap water?

I have read that distilled water is best. Any other water source can have unknown contaminants.. I actually use .9% saline now after much research. I am soo ROOTING for you! I want you to be a part of the success stories you have read about :D I wish there was a vape group/club in your area that can help you out. There very well may be, just gotta look around for one. I found a group in my area through the location forum here on ECF. They are also made a group on facebook and we are constantly helping eachother out. GOOD LUCK!!

Yeah, not giving up yet. But not moving as quickly as I would like toward giving up analogs. So VG doesn't work in cartos. Great. I am trying it because I'm sorting out what makes me itchy. Not real bad itchy...but noticable. It works in the one cart...but I put some in a new one....and it was awful burnt tasting. Freaked a little, thinking it might be dangerous and maybe I really screwed up. Then tried another 70% VG and 30% H2O....it tasted horrible!!! Another burnt taste. So I just went to bed....after an analog :-(.

I was reading another post last night where someone said don't pressure yourself to give up analogs...just let it happen with your vaping experience. Oh how I want to be there. I need to re-read this entire post about what flavors to get etc.

My wicks aren't dark, haven't used them enough. Where it turned red is not where you can see the wick clearly, but on up into the cart. I think its the wick...but up into it where it's behind something.

I wish I could find a group. I'll check facebook and google around this area. There's GOT to be something out there for me that will work.

A cartomizer has to be completely soaked before you fire it or it will burn it and ruin it.. With vg it takes a long time to soak in. Like over night then top off again. I found adding a few drips of water into the carto first helps accelerate the absorption. Definately add 5% water to your juice right off The bat. you may find you need more if that doesn't work well still. Maybe even 10-20% if its super thick. Filtered water Works fine if not storing long term
