*Edit* I shouldn't have said "upgrade" in the title, because you can't really upgrade from a SmokeStik. It's pretty much the Cadillac of 4081's, I just need something that holds more juice, and has crazy battery life for major vaping sessions.

First of all, let me say that this board has been a wealth of information, and everyone seems extremely nice. But...it's so easy to get confused! I know everyone comes on here and expects that someone will hold their hand, and though I don't *expect* it...I would like it very much! :) It seems like every time someone asks for help they're pointed to a million other threads, which, if you're new to vaping, and not really a technical person, ohms/mahs/volts and cartos/tanks/attys, and all that new info can make your head spin. I'm honestly not a person that needs to know HOW something works, just that it does.

So I started out with the SmokeStik (thanks to LoriKay's posting), along with their pre-filled cartomizers. Then I bought some blanks and gas station ejuice (gross), and tried it that way. It's now been long enough that I know I never want to touch another analog cig again. I took a drag off my boyfriend's cigarette a week ago, and...blech! Totally disgusting.

So, I'm ready for the hardcore stuff. From everything I've read, it looks like the eGo Twist looks might be the ticket. Now, it's down to a set-up, and where to buy from, AND e-juice. I'd love to just be able to get it all in one shot, from the same place if possible. Ease of use + quality is what made me start with the SmokeStik, and that's what's turned my eye to the eGo Twist.

I think what I really want is something similar to what this dude has THE EGO TWIST IS A GAME CHANGER - YouTube. I've tried a few flavors now, and I'm really just the kind of person that wants to find something I love, and stick with it, so...I'm not too interested in dripping. I'd like a tank set up, like he has, and I really don't want to have to fiddle with anything throughout the day. The eGo Twist apparently has excellent battery life, which is what's making me lean that way...again, I'd like something that lasts all day (possible?). The confusing part is that it looks like the Twist comes in different mah's 650/900/1000/1100, and I have no idea which one to get. Along with the kind of tank (the kind that dude has looks like it could spill really easy?), atomizer, etc...basically everything I need. Looks aren't really an issue. Although I am of the lady persuasion, I don't need anything pink or super pretty looking...function is ALL I care about. I'm not embarrassed by vaping (I'll happily tell anyone what I'm doing...weird stares be damned) so I don't care if the device looks like a ...., a giant-handle screwdriver (yes, I've been eyeing the silver bullet, too), or some weird thing from outer space.

As far as e-juice goes, I'd really like to find a rich tobacco flavor with a light menthol kick. I smoked Camel Lights analogs forever, but I feel like some menthol really compliments the vaping experience...just not too much menthol. The SmokeStik menthol flavor is really spot on. I think I'd also like to try a PG/VG mix. All I've had so far is straight PG, and it seems to make my throat a wee bit dry, so i thought maybe 70/30 or 75/25 PG/VG might solve that. So, if anyone has suggestions on juice, that would be a plus, but not a necessity. I can shop around.

Sorry this is such a long first post! I'm just excited, and confused, and hope there's someone on here that doesn't mind giving a little (okay, a lot of) guidance.

Thanks!

I started with the Ego c and upgraded to the twist within 24 hours. I didn't want such a long one (that's what she said), so I got the 650 mah, but may go ahead and go for the stainless steel ego v 2 which I think is 1300 mah. anywho I think you will enjoy it. I have a mini vivi nova tank and a Kanger t3 and an atomizer. My tanks and ego c stuff for emergency back up. I thought I'd only want tobacco flavors, but somehow ended up with about 25 different flavors, mostly tropical. I have a nice hazelnut that staved off the tobacco craving that I strangely had this morning after 2 months, 1 day.

My first ecig was a ctwist, and i bought it for way overpriced at a vapor shop, they ripped me off as i checked prices online and started hitting myself lol. you can check vaporjoes.com for daily deals, he has really good deals listed on his blog. fasttech is a good place to buy the ego ctwist Found 104 ego (Peripheral Type: E-Cigarette Battery) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

as for tanks they got plastic and glass tanks or rebuildables etc i started off with plastic tanks and now i'm moving towards rebuildables.

Good luck :) I wish I checked these forums before buying my first ecig, didn't really have any help and ended up wasting a crap load of more money then I should have.

edit: and for juices, if you have a local vapor shop, i'm sure they have a juice bar where you can try every single flavor they got. I was able to smoke the same cigarettes everyday for 5 years but when it came to vaping I became stupid picky lol. If you order juices online you'll want to let it sit before using so the flavor can blend together.

also, I got the sleeve for the mini vivi as i DO like things to look pretty and shiny. : )

Hey more power to you! I have girlfriends who, if they vaped, would be into the pretty's, too. But I'm trying to get my boyfriend to convert, and I think I'll have a bit less luck with a pink pearlescent vaping device.

Ok for the tank I would really suggest a glass tank like a Kanger protank or one of the IBTanked tanks. The reason is that some juices (citrus and cinnamon mostly) will crack most plastics. Glass or metal will not crack from the juice. With the Kangar you will want to purchase extra "heads" so that when one wears out you can just screw in a new one. With the IBTanked you will want punched (or unpunched if you are willing to punch them yourself) cartomizers in the correct length for the tank you choose. PBusardo has some excellent videos on carto tanks and how to punch cartos on is TastrYourJuice Website.

FOr the battery I have never used a Twist or a SPinner(same idea different brand) but people here on ECF seem to love them. The Mah is how long a charge on the battery will last while using it. Roughly 100 Mah = 1 hour so a 900 mah would last roughly 9 hours.

For juices I recommend new vapers get sample packs from many different sources. That gets you alot of small bottles to try and see if you like them. The ones you like you can order a bigger bottle of. The ones you don't set aside and try them again in a month or so. Sometimes after steeping the flavors can improve considerably.

The bad news I have no idea how to get it all from just one place LOL.

I do know MyFreedomSmokes.com has a Twist kit and the protank and does do sample juice packs but they may not be the absolute best prices (though not terrible). I have used them many times and the service has been excellent. The few juices I have tried from them haven't been bad at all in fact that is where I get the only juice I buy anymore (I DIY the rest).

Just a heads up. Those eGo batteries listed are not true "variable" voltage as the twist or spinner are, they are adjustable voltage with three settings (3.2/3.7/4.2v) and are more commonly known as the eGo-c upgrades.
Still amazing value though :)

Correction! I scanned down and they do have the eGo V and it is variable voltage (3.0-6.0v) My apologies

Man, you guys are already being SO helpful. <3

As far as the tanks go, why do people get the plastic ones? Is it just super easy to break the glass kind? Do those puppies ever spill?

Well I use both the protank and catro tanks and other clearomizers that happen to be made of plastic. My protank doesn't leave the house. It has never leaked but it is HEAVY. All but the smallest glass carto tanks is also going to be heavy. For out and about I grab a CE5 clearomizer (plastic) and just don't put the tank cracker juices in it. Also being glass they CAN break if you drop them or bang them on something.

That said I know many people that take thier glass tanks out with them every day. It is all a matter of opinion really and what an individual is comfortable with.

This one http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/e-ci...ist-vv-w-vivi-nova-tank-ultimate-starter-kit/, right? I was eyeing that setup, earlier today. Would you recommend the upgrade to 1000 mAh?

If you mean http://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/e-ci...ist-vv-w-vivi-nova-tank-ultimate-starter-kit/
then yep though I would wait and see if they get the 1000mah in. It is really a question of how long you have to go in your lifestyle without a charger. 2 650 mah will get you roughly 12 hours but then you will have 2 dead batteries and nothing to vape. I got the 1000 mah so I could easily with my lifestyle charge one while using the other.

That said 650s work great for alot of people because at work they just cant sit and chain vape so a 6 hour battery life holds up the 9 hour workday just fine.

No no, no pink for me, I am over 12. I like shiny. The stainless battery, stainless sleeve and shiny tank : ) Most of the big ol mods are shiny. not all, but most. A good starting point anyways.

Yup that's the one.

And yeah that's the issue for me. My boss is perfectly fine with vaping. Not complaining (!!!), but right now I'm having to recharge my two SmokeStik batteries twice a day each (just ordered a third), which is fine for work, but on the weekends I'd love to go a whole day on just one charge.

ok one thought Depending on your work situation. Vape one and if you work at a desk just get an extra charger to leave at the office and plug it in. Use the other one. You should have quite a bit of charge left by the time quitting time comes around so even if you can't plug in odds are the second one would still be good long enough for the 1st one to charge when you got home (it takes mine maybe 2 hours tops to charge off a wall socket).

I've thought about a passthrough, but I don't mind paying a bit more to have something that I don't have to smoke while connected to the wall. And the boyfriend is waiting to see if vaping "takes" with me, first...i.e. if I can go multiple months without smoking. He's tried my SmokeStik, but he has a hard time holding back on his pulls, and I don't think that it would convert him fully, like it did me. Once I get a big mod, with massive vapes, I'm hoping he'll steal it from me, and then I'll just get another one...hence the needed androgyny of the device. ;)

Well just get a cheap ego for the office, say the v2. That will last you all day. You get 2 batteries in a kit. 1000 mah+ will last all day, but you still have the back up if it breaks, and also something bigger, but I cannot imagine investing a large amount of money in something that "might" take. I have heard some great things about Vamo and it is reasonable, round 50ish....
