Agreed. It's proven stable so far, and the quick-view feature at the bottom is sweet! Any other cool features I might not have seen yet? +1
Don't forget to turn on super admin/Turns that stupid pop up crap, and also lets more programs to work as it lets EVERYTHING run as admin(this is also the same as in Vista)
# Logon to Vista using your usual account.
# type cmd in the run(the start menu) - Make sure you select, 'Run as administrator(right click)'
# type - Net user administrator /active:yes
# Switch User, or logoff
# Logon as Super Administrator
I then take the next step and delete the old account
Another tip
Make a new tool bar
Click my computer, and then go to C:\
Next go to the folder users and click on the folder as your login name
use that as the tool bar
Makes a really nice get to fast toolbar
next turn on your old XP quick links
* Right-click the taskbar, choose Toolbars / New Toolbar
* In the folder selection dialog, enter the following string and hit OK:
%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
* Turn off the “lock the taskbar” setting, and right-click on the divider. Make sure that “Show text” and “Show title” are disabled and the view is set to “small icons”.
* Use the dividers to rearrange the toolbar ordering to choice, and then lock the taskbar again.
Next install a better(MS should of thought of it) start menu
Vista Start Menu – Convenient alternative to Start menu

Also drivers for windows 7
Now not everything HAS a driver for this O/s but have no fear most XP, XP2003/Vista drivers work! Now the installer may not work, but there is a work around.
If you have the ini file it's really easy.
Right Click on my computer
Click on Management
Click on device manager
right Click on your device(normally yellow some times the old driver just needs updated from the stock install one.)
Click update/reinstall driver
Click I will chose what device, and then click HAVE DISK
then point to the ini file, and pick out what you want to install
Windows will then FORCE install whatever you want to install
Now if you have a EXE installer
you need to download winrar from download.com
then unzip the EXE file, this will dump everything, and let you dig out the ini file that you need to force install.

very tempted to change my vista 64 to windows 7 64 but i havnt had any real problems with vista yet... why fix something that isnt broken.
I've been running Windows 7 64bit RC since it came out. I like it quite a bit. way better than Vista as far has the fact that I don't get the blue screen of death anymore.
It just works, I mainly use it with 2 dual atsc tuners for media center. It's on all the damn time.

Glad to hear it's looking good! Holding off a reformat of my Vista machine (just messy as it's been a while) to go ahead and upgrade when it comes out in October or a bit after!
Question - have you had any compatibility problems, say, with Vista games or anything if any of you are gamers at all? I have several Vista games I'd like to play still. I'm assuming there should be few problems, but wouldn't hurt to hear some firsthand experiences.
At any rate, thanks for the heads up and sounds like it's definitely worth the switch (even though I really haven't had too many Vista problems as is).

I have heard a lot of good things about 7 so far. Vista I think was kinda the windows "Me" transitional OS. I am looking forward to testing it. On my wifes machine

my take on time expired beta O/S i used to test alot of software and when i did. i would use a beta O/S for testing and found that. unless you have a trash system to waste in the event of a critical failure dont mess with the OS. i will wait till windows 7 has major updates like an official service pack maybe 1 or 2 then i might get it. unless my next system is forced to have it in which case i will get it with the system but i wont Retail box it for a long time. i used to own every major Ms OS released from 3.1 days but now i just sit and wait.
