Winter has already hit here. A 30 degree drop in temperature this week was devastating!
I had to put on a jacket I was shivering so much!
When I saw the temp reading in my car said 65, I started looking for snow clouds!!!

Already getting flurries in some places out here. Usually about 6 degrees in the morning, which is just glorious temperature for a hot coffee and a big infinity cloud. Could be cooler, really.

Celsius, BTW, to you farenheit maniacs.

Since I mostly hibernate during the winter I don't have to change my vape :D Cold temps and me just don't get along.

But......

I did have to start bringing in all my potted plants when I saw the temp down to 47 F one morning last week. It has warmed back up but it was just warning me that the cold days are on their way.

Finally, a temperature conversion chart we can all understand!!!

  • 70 above (+19 deg. Celsius): Texans turn on the heat and unpack the thermal underwear. People in Canada go swimming in the Lakes.
  • 60 above (+14 C): North Carolinians try to turn on the heat. People in Canada plant gardens.
  • 50 above (+9 C): Californians shiver uncontrollably. People in Canada sunbathe.
  • 40 above (+4 C): Italian and English cars won't start. People in Canada drive with the windows down.
  • 32 above (0 C): Distilled water freezes. Lake Superior's water gets thicker.
  • 20 above (-6 C): Floridians put on coats, thermal underwear, gloves and woolly hats. People in Canada throw on a flannel shirt.
  • 15 above (-8.5 C): Philadelphia landlords finally turn up the heat. People in Canada have the last cookout before it gets cold.
  • 0 degrees (-18 C): People in Miami all die. Canadians lick the flagpole.
  • 20 below (-26 C): Californians fly away to Mexico. People in Canada get out their winter coats.
  • 40 below (-36 C): Hollywood disintegrates. The Girl Guides in Canada re selling cookies door to door.
  • 60 below (-46 C): Polar bears begin to evacuate the Arctic. Canadian Boy Scouts postpone "Winter Survival" classes until it gets cold enough.
  • 80 below (-56 C): Mt. St. Helens freezes. People in Canada rent some videos.
  • 100 below (-66 C): Santa Claus abandons the North Pole. Canadians get frustrated because they can't thaw the keg.
  • 297 below (-164.5 C): Microbial life no longer survives on dairy products. Cows in Canada complain about farmers with cold hands.
  • 460 below (-246 C): ALL atomic motion stops (absolute zero in the Kelvin scale). People in Canada start saying, "Cold 'nuff for ya?"
  • 500 below (-266 C): Hell freezes over. The Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup.

So let me derail my own thread a sec.

I forgot to stock up on bar soap the other week and found myself in a spot one morning. Dove into an old box full of crap and found a classic stocking stuffer: soap on a rope. Maple Leafs soap on a rope.

- Right out of the gates, it stunk.
-After the first shower, the cracks were already starting to show.
- By shower three it fell apart.
- About a week in, it fell apart completely, crumbling under even the slightest pressure.

This is a recent and very true story. Gotta say, what appeared to be a cynical brand cash-in turned out to be a pretty damn accurate product!

Go Leafs!!

I have to say the first time I saw pickup trucks descending to the city with HEAPING piles of snow in them I went, "WTH with you lot???" I mean, it's such a safety issue, but no one seems to understand that snow blowing off one's vehicle is a hazard.

Ah, yes! The cheap way of adding weight for traction. I went the expensive route with sandbags, but even then, my pickup pretty much sits through January and February. Good to be retired and not to have to go anywhere!

Your post also reminded me of the time I was still young, driving the interstate when a snowstorm suddenly came up. It was snowing and blowing so hard, I had to slow down to about 35mph. Drove that way for about 40 miles when I could faintly make out a couple red lights up ahead of me. Once I realized those faint red lights were staying the same distance in front of me, I slowly picked up speed to get a better look. Slowly more red lights appeared, some higher up. That's when I realized I was following an 18 wheeler. Summoning the courage, I finally passed him. That's when I found out it was not a blizzard, but the "storm" he was kicking up from the layer of snow from the ground. I must have looked really stupid, slowly cruising along in that trucks snow dust!

But as this subject relates to vaping..... Since my last 20 years smoking were restricted to going outside to smoke, I am so looking forward once again to sitting here in my man cave, happily vaping away while gazing out the window at the cold, snowy weather. But another benefit of retirement!

I'm actually surprised that not having to hop out to freeze our arses off hasn't been a constant refrain so far. I'm a bit odd and relish getting out into the cold, but one thing I do absolutely love not dealing with is the way smoke sticks to you like glue in the cold. Forget how bad we smelled normally; in winter it was doubly bad.

Yeah, the winter coat smelled pretty bad come spring! It didn't help always finding or going to a confined space to get out of the wind and cold. Not to mention how hard it was on coat zippers.

Even just coming back in, the stink was enormous - and seemed to get worse the colder it got. I mean, especially in a jacket, coming in from a smoke would be pretty bad without a thorough airing out in the first place, but in sub-zero weather you might as well have come in with the burning .... in your hand.

I read this as rap music and I think you should go for it. :)

Anna

No. No no no. Never encourage any more rap. It's a blight upon the world. A new study shows 97% cases of all migraines and spastic colon are the result of people hearing rap music against their will.
