Wiping Top Deck

I tend to wipe the top deck off with a napkin everytime I open up the top deck to inspect my coil and wick, even though the tank may still be holding sone juice, does anyone out there do the same?

I clean mine at every refill to prevent the dirty liquid from getting in the tank.
