I just made a ''wider'' coil,10 wraps instead of 5 wraps,this way it keeps the wick off the sides of the deck,if the wick touches the deck ''top''the juice drips back in the air hole.I also this time raised the coil way up from the air hole about 1/8in.I also let the wicks cover the juice channels too ''block'' them without stuffing it tight,just sitting loose...a big improvement.Im gettn a nice airy draw with no gurling now,been like this for 2 tank refills.

Looks good. The most problems I have had with my KFL+ is due to wicking, and pretty infrequent. The nice thing is, you know somethings wrong right away because flavor and vapor just drop right off. Another good thing is that you learn quick, because sucking the juice out and tearing the thing down to fix a wick is a cast iron PITA. I am running a 3 strand 32ga twisted micro coil, 3/32" ID, 10 wraps, so it's long like what you have there. I set my coil about 2MM above the deck diagonally.

I have never had it flood or gurgle. My problems happened early on with too much wick, or the tails being too long and blocking the juice channels. Once I figured that out, it was smooth sailing. IMHO, the KFL+ is a rock solid platform that is pretty forgiving. I still use my rebuilt PT2's, but I can say I won't be buying any more of them. The Kayfun is so good, it's hard to justify buying anything else.

Mine still leaks a small bit but not near as bad,im getting better at it.Maybe ill try to ''unblock'' the channels next time.A little blow tru the air hole fixes it up fast tho.I just got an idea,how bout using the end wires from the screw heads too help support the wick off the ''deck top''.I find if the wick touches the deck top edge i get juice running down the inside airhole.

I don't have the leaking problem, and it might be due to the fact that my air hole seems to be above the deck slightly. After I read your post, I went back and checked some pictures I snapped to help out another member who was having some problems. You can see what I mean in the picture below. It isn't flat on the positive block. Your idea sounds good, the only thing I have noticed is that if the wicks make too sharp a bend to the lower deck, they tend to not wick as well. This isn't really a problem for me as I don't chain vape, and I am running that coil at 3.2 volts, or ~10.5 watts. It is 1 ohm. I found this out when I first got it, and was working out how to properly make the wick work; I really cranked it up and chain vaped it.

I haven't messed with mine, so I don't know if you can actually raise that air hole by adjusting the center post. You might want to check that out.

UPDATE:

Im finding if i vape with the outside airhole always ''up'' lm getting no leaks.I also poked the wick ends in the corners totally away from the channels,so far so good.
My wife has to use hers that way....air hole up. Mine it doesn't matter. Exact same devices purchased at same time. To make it more interesting, I'm the one who makes the coils and wicks for both of them. I don't get it....lol. I usually "drape" my wicks over the channels.

Underlined portion;
Really think that's probably the only relevant thing you did as far as leaking goes. I do not run angled coils. I am always fully "on-board" with the coil and the wick is pressed to the side of the coil deck area, have a quarter pigtail type turn and lay flat on the lower deck above the juice channel. I have wick laying on that ledge from one side to the other.

I have 4. They don't leak. So, I really think the air gap is the key difference if you were having leaking problems?

hey buddy was surfing around and seen your pic, I thought to myself, that looks exactly like my coil & wick, I mean exactly. I brought up an old pic of one of my builds and it is in fact either a pic of my coil or one that is a completely exactly the same. is this a pic of your coil? or just a pic you seen here on one of the threads? if this is in fact a pic of one of yours it is amazing because its exactly the same, I mean even the hairs of the cotton are a perfect match.

I certainly don't mind at all using it, It just caught me off guard . I looked at it and I said that looks just like my coil but I'm sure there are tons that look the same but when I found my old pic and looked side by side I then knew it was indeed an old pic I had posted. That was an 8 wrap of 26g which is about .8ish ohms. Thanks

I run some coils angled while other times just straight, it depends on the length of the coil itself. If I'm doing a longish type coil I angle it because I don't like the coil leads to back track from edge of coil to posts. If I do a smaller type coil where the wire leads end straight across from posts, then I run the coil straight, either way I don't believe it has anything to do with leakage.
