I am going to stock up on some kanthal wire. What gauges should I get? 28, 30 and 32 of course but should I also get other sizes? And what about ribbon wire? Is that a fad that is going away or should I get some of that too? If so what size(s)?

I have an RSST and R91 on the way to me now. And I own a phoenix rda. I'm not sure what other devices I will be trying in the future.

TIA for your help.

It really depends on what you are building. But in general, I find 32g to be pretty much useless. I mainly build for mechanical mods, with drippers, genisis RBAs, and Taifun, Kayfun, Squape type stuff. I mainly use 28g and 26g. Occasionally, I'll use 30g if I'm rebuilding Pro Tank heads for the gf.

Figure out what resistance you like first. Then use the size wire that will be 8-10 wraps and end up at that resistance. If you're only going to buy two spools then I'd go with 28g and 32g. Those two will cover most situations. You can do duals with 32g and end up at .7-.8 ohms without having a million wraps, and you can twist or parallel wrap it to mimic 28g. You can twist or do parallels with 28g to mimic 24g.
