wire gauge - which is best suited?

just got an erl mini for chrsitmas. and im going to have to order some kanthal for it eventualy

what im trying to figure out, what gauge is best for my application? im trying to acheive arounf 5-8 wraps around 2-3mm, and get anywhere between 1.4-1.8.


right now im currently unwrapping pankcake coils i got from FT and re wrapping them. idk what gauge they are as its not listed in specs, and they come out to 1.3 before trimming any leads... - im not liking that low end of res table(1.0-1.3ohm), too hot.

28 or 30 should do the trick. 30 will give you one or two fewer wraps, but will heat up quickly. 28 will give you a slightly longer coil, but is a little lazier to heat up. More durable and easier to work with, IMHO.

thanks, im somewhat new to making my own coils.

normaly i use NR-r premade coils from FT to rebuild my evod/protanks, but i fiddled around some here and there with these pancake coils.
