Sorry, no, not yet. AG's was live on the VapeTV show last night, (I missed it) but if you subscribe to his channel, you'll know as soon as he posts the archived link. https://www.youtube.com/user/ALTPETSERV (altpetserv is AlmightyGod)
I`v just read this thread form start to finish... and needless to say I`ve got Ekowool and 316 SS rope in 7/7 and 7/19 in both 2.5 and 3mm (hard to find 3/32 or 1/8 here in the UK believe it or not!) on order to try in the AGA-T2 and the RSST
I did notice quite early in the thread some guys were concerned about Galvanised coatings on the SS rope and rightly so! the fumes given off can be carcenogenic and are nasty ( I know via welding galvanised steel and you need a respirator or just don`t bother!)
There may be a get around or even a test. Galvanised steel of any kind absolutely hates caustic soda! It will bubble and fizz and the caustic strips the galvanisation off in no time!
I often use (carefully) a hot solution of caustic to strip the plating off small parts if they have to be welded.
So a quick test would be to add some caustic soda crystals to some hot water and test a small section of the suspect SS rope in it, if it reacts it`s coated! If you leave it overnight it will strip any of the plating and leave the SS untouched. If you want to strip some of your plated SS for vaping use I recommend a thorough washing after, in fact several washes to make sure all traces of soda are removed.
Now the disclaimers!!! :
Always were gloves and goggles!
Never add boiling water to the crystals! It will react violently!
Do not breathe the fumes!
Do this at your own risk.
Caustic soda crystals can be found at most hardware stores and are commonly used for clearing drains, removing limescale etc![]()
OMG, I am getting so sick.
I can't take it when everyone can do it and I can't. And I can't wait for shipping to come anymore. This whole Vaping thing makes me wait so long, on so many things. So today, I got a mechanic mod (KTS), a Aga T2, and an RSST. With the Aga T2 and the RSST, I suddenly know how to set up wicks. I tried ss mesh, then ss cable, and cable with mesh on top. They all work fine. I also learned how to suck.
With real cig, and clearomizers, I suck it in my mouth. When my mouth full, I stop sucking then inhale it, just like smoking real cig. With the genesis type, I have to suck it directly into my throat because the air flow is so wide open, then lung, and full stomach until my stomach got as big as I have ever experience, and I can't suck anymore, then I blow it out. Oh mine, the room was just like an old train just came through.
I sat here stuff all of my gears in front of me and smoke one after another one by one. When realized that I just finish 2 tanks of each genesis type tanks (that is 4 tanks of juice), 1 MT2, and 1 stardust. Now I feel so sick in my stomach and want to throw up. My mouth and throat are so itchy.
Questions,
Now I can produce a lot of vape/smoke, but no smell and taste. If it matter, the Aga T2, I set it up at 1.4 ohms. The RSST is at 2.5 ohms. My little MT3 and stardust suddenly become so restricted, but a lot of taste and smell. The genesis type has no taste/smell at all. The worst is the ss cable set up. What wrong did I do?
The KTS works ok, but if I keep holding the button for a real long vape, the button get very hot, to the point I can't hold it anymore. Nowhere, else get hot. Is this normal or something is wrong?
I can't tell if the body is short. I set up the coil/wick dry, then add fluid, then draw fluid in the tank. Fire the button and tilt it for couple seconds, several times. I did not see any hot spot at all.
I tried the 2.2ohms (sometimes it's 2.5ohms) on the mech mod, the button won't get hot for 1 long pull. I kept the button depressed for 3 long pulls, then it get a little warm. 2.2ohms on the mech mod, vaping production is not much.
At work we have several large spools of SS wire rope. I cut a few different sizes to play around with... They are all galvanized.

okay, so i got my SS rope last night and did some testing. As far as i can tell, 302, 304, and 316 appear to wick equally, personally i would choose 316 over the others, as it has the best corrosion resistance, but it is also more expensive.
this stuff wicks awesome !! I had been running 100% cotton wicks, and it would take at least an hour for the cotton to soak up enough juice to be vapable, and you had to give it a rest in between to recover, i put a cotton diaper on the rope, wrapped my coil on directly on it, stuck the wick in my AGA t2 with juice still in the tank, and before i could get the coil completely connected, the cotton diaper was soaked in juice already.
I did notice however that i had to up my wattage. with the 100% cotton wick, i had been running around 7.5 - 8 watts, with the SS rope cotton, i am runing around 9 - 9.5. not sure if this is because i definitely have a larger juice volume to vaporize, or because the rope is sinking some heat away, but never the less, it vapes a 100 times better than the plain cotton ever did.
Do you use a kicked mech? I run into this problem with my mechs. They simply do not supply enough power. Toss a rba onto a VV/VW and it works far better.
Sort of defeats the purpose though. Maybe my mech's are crappy ones. They are the cheaper ones.
