No I don't have this problem for one reason and one reason only.
If I left ANYTHING laying around the cat would think it was his new toy. Then there would be problems.... for him! Everything I have that is of any value at all is put away in some type of case or in an ottoman that is hollow that the top comes off. (nice hiding place and purchased just for this purpose)

Jus tmake sure to hide the ones you are not using and if your cat is a piggy catnip eater, all bets are off
Also put a gob of hot glue where the feathers go in or they wont last 10 minutes.
And reading the rest of your post, it sounds like you may have a young can or even a kitten, get toys, lots of toys, yarn mini tennis balls, anything made from go-cat is like anything from the house of hybrids...
