With a filled tank, how long should you be able to hold the fire button until the coils get red?

I did do the peter K method with the drillbit, and then conditioned the coil for hot spots, and then put the mesh in. It was 325 mesh, and maybe i will do like you guy said and torch the entire wick and quench, and then juice burn. I thought i only needed to torch the part where the coil is but if thats not the case, then that could be my problem also.

For now i used 2.5 mm silica (i gave up) and its vaping like crazy, while i try to condition the mesh a little better. I can fire the silica for 20 seconds before a coil gets red, and when i was using mesh, a 3 second fire and my coils were getting hot.

By the way, one tank was a clouds of vapor thick VG, and another tank was pure smokers 70/30 mix.
