Ok I'll try and explain this the best way I can. Ever since I quit smoking analogs and went to ecigs my withdrawal symptoms do not feel the same as they would when I smoking analogs. Is this normal? Like I don't feel the need for nicotine or whatever as much as I did smoking as I think I may be chain vaping cause I hit my ecig several times an hour.

Well, it's not the same as quitting cold turkey. You are substituting, while still getting the nicotine. Plus the hand to mouth is still the same, the sensation of filling ones lungs is still there as well so you are correct, the symptoms will be different!
Is it normal that I'm vaping several times an hour though? I'm on 8mg nic. I'm so used to just smoking half a cig, putting it out and then coming back to the rest of it an hour or so later. I mean I feel like I'm vaping and taking in more nicotine than I did when I was smoking.

Very rough estimate of nicotine consumption:
For example, lets say you vape 5 ml/day of 8 mg juice. It means it was 5*8=40 mg of nicotine in consumed juice.
Body absorbs roughly (very roughly) about half of this nicotine, 40/2-20 mg/day of absorbed nicotine.
With each regular cigarette smoker gets about 1 mg of nicotine.
So, 20 mg/day is equal (again, roughly equal) to 20 cigarettes.

My consumption 3mg/ml*10 ml = 30 mg/day
30/2 = 15 cigarettes/day

Couple years ago it was 18*5=90. 90/2 = 45 cigarettes day.

Before it I was 1.5 pack/day smoker, or 35 cigs/day.

So, when I switched to vaping my nicotine consumption increased. But now it's down. It's much easier to decrease your nicotine dependance when vaping than when smoking.

I take between 200 and 500 puffs a day to put it in perspective. I only know that as my Smok mods have puff counters.

8mg nic can be quite high depending on resistance and wattage. What device are you using?

I vape 6mg nic at 13w/1.8ohms but 2mg at 120w/0.15ohms.

I use an eleaf ipower with a nataulus mini on 12w. 1.8 ohms

not sure about sub-ohming since the study is like 2+ yrs old but, we don't absorb as much nic while vaping in the same time amount it takes to smoke a cigarette, so probably why we tend to vape more, especially when we use low nic levels.

I'm not a doctor, but it's my personal believe that vaping 100ml of e-juice a day is better than smoking....

When I quit, I literally had an e-cig with me ALL the time. Vaping constantly for about a month.

You'll be alright, as I'm sure some people on here vape a lot more than both of us!

Congrats on quitting!!!! Vape as much as you need to stay away from cigarettes!

I used to smoke a half cigarette & put it out for an hour, just like you.
I felt lousy & guilty about smoking. Couldn't quit.
I don't feel guilty about vaping at all. So i vape whenever.
My body tells me when I've had enough..

I have been vaping for well over 5 years and still vape almost constantly while sitting around. If I am up and about I literally forget about vaping. I could never say that about smoking.

Just relax and enjoy the ride. Your body will tell you when you have had to much. When that happens just put your device down for a little while. Even if you are taking in more nic I can't see that being a problem unless it makes you a tad nic sick. Your body WILL tell you if you have taken in to much. For most folks even that isn't a big problem as it will pass quickly once you refrain from vaping for a few minutes.

Quite normal.. cigarettes by weight are an average of 10% additives that include nicotine enhancers that improve the hit you get from a smoke/help you absorb it faster and a cough suppressant that mask the effects of disease..

Since vapor products don't have these additives we get our nicotine at a slower less intense rate which will translate to slower less intense cravings.

I'm like mattiem above...if I'm not active I vape more. Sitting at the computer, I pretty much chain vape. I'm not worried about it at all. I smoked 42+ years at 1 - 1 1/2 PAD, so vaping as I do isn't a concern for me.

I'm vaping 6-7mg eliquids, and about 7-8mL per day, or more sometimes. I vape by pulling the vapor into my mouth and only slightly down the back of my throat, hold it there a second or 2, and then exhale through my mouth and/or nose. It gets me my "nic fix" with no problem, without even inhaling it into my lungs!

My health has improved (BP down, blood oxygen levels way up, etc.) and my doctor says my lungs are clear...which they hadn't been for years while smoking! Even my mild COPD that was diagnosed years before I quit smoking...is no longer evident on X-rays. So, with results like that...I'm personally going to continue on vaping as I have been for 3+ years now.

EDIT: If I were you, I'd keep vaping whatever amount and frequency is necessary to keep you off the smokes now. After you've been off them for awhile...if you want to change anything, then try it, as many people do as time goes by.

Go by how you feel.
If you feel "queasy" or sick it may be too much nicotine - cut back.
Otherwise, vape as much as you need to NOT SMOKE.

You may have some other odd withdrawal-from-CIGS side effects besides nicotine...but stick with it.

Most likely, within a couple months
a) Your lungs will feel clear!! You'll breathe better!!
b) Smoking won't appeal as much - and might smell NASTY to you
c) If you WANT to, you'll pretty easily be able to reduce your nicotine strength, or go a couple hours without a vape...again - IF you want to...you may not want to, and feeling healthier already, that's OK, too.

Sorry I'm just freaking out about this as I am some what new to vaping. It just doesn't feel normal to me lol

When I decided to try vaping, I paid attention while smoking my last cigs for about a week. I realized I was having at least 1 cig an hour and would take about 15 pulls on each. I quickly found I could not vape that way, picking it up and hitting it 15 times in 5 or 6 minutes. Even with those 15 hits spread out over an hour, a hit every 4 minutes, I found that I may do that at times, but not throughout the day. After getting a mod with a puff counter and checking at the end of the day, it averaged out well below 15 puffs an hour. Then include the days (believe me, there were many) I would far exceed my normal 1 cig an hour and I feel I hit my vape far less then I was the cigs.

This is in no way scientific, I have no clue about nicotine absorption, and at this point, I really don't care! I feel better health wise, am happier, and my wife will tell you I am a lot easier to get along with in spite of being in the "cranky old man" era of my life.

I've been vaping for quite a while and at present vape 16mg liquid although next time I shop I'm gonna try 11mg and vape 8ml a day. Do whatever you've got to to stay smoke free. It took me two years of trying to vape to kick the cigs and was well worth it. With the equipment we have now it should be quite easy with a little determination. Good luck.

Like @Train2 said, you will know when you have had too much. I wouldn't advise trying to find out what that limit is but your body will let you know when you are satiated!! Stick with it, it is awkward when starting. It is all worth the effort. Keep reading threads that may apply to you and find out how others are adapting and progressing. It's a fun journey, enjoy it, responsibly!!!!

Well for me it has been three months , and I am now going days without analogues and have the odd drag of one here or there. I understand how you feel, It is an alien feeling when vaping. However I have noticed that I do not get the inner 'extreme desperation' for a hit like when I smoked exclusively. We are so used to the 5 minute fix and can feel like you are always vaping! and in some cases we probably are, I think by upping nic levels you will find you can put it down for longer if that is what you desire, also WTA liquids help me reduce. I am vaping around 4ml of 12mg Juice per day, some days I use a ml or two of 24mg.
its funny now when I have an analogue it feels to quick and dirty! I prefer the length of time spent vaping ,, go figure! I would really like to see a sub ohm plasma reading and also something on the Hybrid vapes such as IQOS
