If anything, Kristin, this letter was TOO polite. ;) I'm glad that you helped point out that it is the pharmaceutical industry that really seems to be pushing the prohibitionist agenda, but I honestly don't think they're really worried about decreasing sales of a few hundred million dollars in smoking cessation drugs nearly as much as they are concerned about losing the BILLIONS of dollars spent by 8.6 Million continuing smokers to treat the symptoms of chronic illnesses that are caused or worsened by smoking. If too many smokers switch to recreational smoke-free tobacco products rather than trying failing to permanently quit smoking using pharmaceutical products, they might not buy any bronchodilators, glucocorticoids, antibiotics, oxygen thearapies, flu or pneumonia vaccines used to treat COPD. Even if states start taxing e-cigs, if too many vapers stop buying cigarettes, who will pay the Master Settlement Agreement to subsidize the tobacco Control industry?
