Wondering if vaping is the reason for my stomach cramps

Hello everyone!

I am sorry if I post this in the wrong section!

I have just recently started vaping (started 1 week ago) and I am loving it. However... I have found for the last 3 days that I get stomach cramps about 3-5 hours into the day... wake up at 7:30 and around 10:30-12:30 I start geting these crazy stomach cramps that lead to unpleasant...well.. you know what....

My routine the last 3 days is basically wake up 7:30 - have a stinky, have another stinky at 09:00 - then around 10-10:30 I start the vape.. and that's when the fun starts..

I am just wondering if that could be some kind of a side effect from vaping since that is one of the 2 possible reasons I can figure out.. Other one being antibiotics that I have been taking for the last 3 weeks. If it's the antibiotics it is just strange that close to 3 weeks into the treatment I get these cramps...

I am just curious to know if my liquid is crap, or if my tank is faulty

I am using apple taste 20%pg / 80%vg juice from greate vape - http://www.great-vape.com/category-s/112.htm
at least that's what my distributor say's it is.. it's in a unmarked bottle...
this is used on a evod system that I bought - It is from what I can tell a fake evod battery and the tank is basically unknown.but it has kangertech coils.
photo of my gear:
evod.jpg

I notice that most of the time there is a slurpy noice when I vape and I get often a stronger then normal juice taste and feel a bit like some of the juice is skipping through somehow.. Often I also get this strange strong smell, kind of like extra fruity burnth smell,, stuck in my nose that pops up few minutes after I vape..

Anyway.. sorry for the long post. But if anyone thinks I might have a faulty unit or a bad juice I would love to hear form you..

Extra question: As you can see on the picture above of my gear, the unit came with a usb charger cable. Am I correct to assume that the box that I screw the battery in is a adapter? It say's on the label: "Charger - Model:USB-JK - Input: DC5v - Output: DC4.2V 420ma"
I assume it is a adapter since it has differet output from input but I just want to be 100%
If it is a charger I assume it would be ok to use about any usb wall charger from like mobile phone etc? the once I have are 5v output and 1 or 1.6A
Also got a car usb charger that has 2 usb slots, one outputing 5w1A and one 10w2.1A

thanks and sorry again for long post :/
best regards and happy vaping!

vaping in steam vapor is different than smoke from a stinky as you call it. Adjustments to the way you inhale need to be made, and it is effecting you.
You breathe and inhale them differently, particularly when you start out. Your body "just" adjusts.. I say - quit the stinkies and let vaping fill your nic. needs.
The old Evod, well it can be finicky, especially leaking out of the bottom center pin. I haven't seen where it will expel juice out of the top, unless it's leaking and you lay it down and then vape it up right away. It can and will gurgle with a bad wick. It will taste nasty when the junky factory coil gets caked on with juice and you continue to use it. The Evod is a beginners inexpensive device, and it will be problematic if you don't care for it regularly. keep reading up here in these forums, most of the issues can be found with your solution just a click away. - And yes, you can get an irritated gut by drinking the juice..;)

Thank you Robino1 - I forgot to put in my original post that I have read this post you linked and many others and could not see anything talking about stomach cramps and my issues . then again I find it hard to read most of the time and may not understand all words there since English is not my native tongue :) That's why I thought I'd post here
hoping that someone might have experienced the same or something... don't know...

and yes thank you for the advice of longer drip tip. I am looking into buying a second set that has more costumization possible. I doupt I can change the drip tip on the current clearomizer..:p

Don't be too quick to blame it all on the vaping, though I don't want to discount it.

But, you say you're on antibiotics. Antibiotics are well known for wreaking havoc in the body, especially with the digestive system. I'd eliminate one or the other before I made up my mind about it. Wait till you're off the medicine before making the tests to determine if vaping bothers you like this.

On the other hand, a very few folks will exhibit allergy responses to PG or maybe some of the flavors. Nicotine in juice, especially if ingested, can cause gastrointestinal upset. Stop the juice swallowing, and maybe cut down on nic a little ? ?

You have left out the other half of the story: Did you smoke, when did you stop, and when did the symptoms start in context of quitting smoking? There are several GI problems that can pop up as a result of quitting smoking, some serious - some not so much. Chronic cramping and ........ in context of quitting smoking needs medical follow up.

Beatsuka smokes...

It sounds like you are swallowing some of the juice, probably by drawing too hard on the ecig. Try gentler, slower, longer draws rather than a hard pull/puff like you do with a cigarettes. With the antibiotics and so on, it's hard to nail it down with just the information you've given. I wouldn't vape anything out of an unmarked bottle no mater what somebody claimed.

Please don not use your phone charger until someone confirms it's compatible with you ecig. Using the wrong charger has started more than a few fires.

Antibiotics will definitely cause gastric upset, especially toward the end of the Rx. They kill all gut bacteria; good and bad. Try taking some Probiotics or eating yogurt before you decide it's the vaping. Give it some time and take over the counter gas meds until things resolve.

Like you, I had some GI problems initially, but after 3 weeks smoke-free, they disappeared. Of course, I became much better at proper vaping technique too and stopped swallowing e-juice.:)

Thank you all for your reply's

To clear things up:
Yes I smoked - I was a 1pack a day smoker for 13 years. - After starting vaping one week ago i'm down to 3-5 smokes a day
I have quit before. longest was 9 months. that was with help of the farmdrug called champix. in all the times I quit I have not had this problem

The antibiotics may well be the cause. I have only 2 days left of the course so it will soon tell.

I am not stopping vaping - I just need to adjust :p
I noticed 2 days ago i was sucking to hard on the vape after reading massive amounts of info here I started draging it slowly and longer.

Last night I changed my coil to see if it would stop the juice spill so I would not get it in my mouth. that helped. but the taste is more or less close to none.. guess the most taste i got was from the extra juice geting through lol

I am going to quit the smokes completely. plan is to start my nosmoke days tomorrow :)

about the liquied - yes it is in unmarked bottles. main reason for that is probl. that this stuff is not "Legal" to import here in Iceland. and my "dealer" claims that he gets it in bigger quantity's and splits it down to unmarked bottles (makes it easyer for him to get it into the country I guess)

He claims it's from a company called Great vape - Vape Store: Buffalo, NY: Electronic Cigarettes, E-Cig & E-Liquid Kits: Great Vape - come to think of it I wouldn't even buy it in marked bottles compared to they'r website.. anyone got experience with these juices?

About the charger - I am not using the wall chargers untill I can know for sure I can use them.
I just charge it with a usb port on laptop. but it would be handy to be able to use my wall usb adapters for sure. (unless someone can point me to a usb wall adapter that i can buy that fits this evod.. 900mah battery)

My next plan is to try to find a way to get my own juice into the country or find a good dealer with solid juice. just have to find out what kind of juice I want to buy. since the PG is only 20% in what I'm supposedly vaping then I have been told that might not be good for the claromizer I use now. so guess i'll need to find a 50/50 juice.
I also want to buy another tank. Thinking of buying the nautilus mini starter kit. and use this evod as a backup ( put it in the upcoming collection ) :p
the current setup I have has a decent cloud that looks 100% like a smoke.. but the taste is really limited.

... and after reading this back I had to laugh a bit... some word combinations here sound off... "Sucking to hard" "Stop the juice spill geting in my mouth" etc. etc. hah...

thanks again

Correlation does not equal causation. :) I get why you think it might be related, but 3 things:

1. Antibiotics are... anti-biotic. Depending on why you're taking them or the strength, you could be doing a doozy on your stomach flora.

2. That doesn't mean you aren't swallowing some juice and also going through changes from quitting smoking.

3. We're not doctors (but I'm always willing to play doctor, wink wink nudge nudge)

So basically, you're most likely on hardcore antibiotics that are messing with your system, which is a system that's already messed up or you wouldn't be taking the medicine, while you're transitioning to vaping, and should ask your Doctor if it's a known side effect.

Yeah. I just talked to a chemist (I think that's the word in english) a person that study's drugs like antibiotics and more..

We found out that a combination of 2 drugs i'm taking might be the cause of this since they do not fit togeather.

So the reason is most likely not vaping. I will know more on that matter next week.
the antibiotics I'm taking are for a tooth problem. got infection cause of a damaged tooth.. and the one i'm taking effects the flora in the stomach so yeah.. problem solved I hope.
only 2-3 days more of the antibiotics thankfully :)

Thank you all for the reply's. good to get a reply to my concerns here on this nice forum community.

Happy vaping!

I for one went through the same things you mentioned in your original post when I started vaping but it was only with certain juices. In fact, there are juices that I vape that even a year later will "affect" my body differently than others. I know many here will say that it isn't possible, you must be getting juice in your mouth and swallowing the juice and such but from my experience that doesn't necessarily need to be the case. There are some very sweet desert juices that I vape that will often upset my stomach as if I ate too much sweet stuff and there are others, one in particular, that when I vape it it can have a let's just call it prune juice affect.

Your body will adjust for the most part but there is also the possibility that your current go to juice just doesn't agree with your body. I'd suggest trying a simple non-sweet juice for a while and see how your body reacts and go from there.

I can tell you this. Early on when I first started vaping, I tend to be sloppy and enjoyed a little e liquid on the tongue. After about a month I had the worst stomach pains I ever had. Went and got xrays.. Nothing showed abnormal. Doc finally told me to take 2 Smooth 4 times a day. Basically tablet version of Pepto. After a week or two I was back to normal. Now I am not a sloppy vapor and any time I get liquid in my mouth I rinse before swallowing.

It was awful.
